the knob on the tank is to let the co2 out of the tank, keep that turned on, and regulate the co2 using the regulator knob (duh! i feel like smacking myself)

Hi, it is not normal. Recently ADA soil got problem with high pH. Please test the pH of your amazon soil and it is too high, pls return back to the LFS or ADA distributor and get a new pack with no problem from them wink.gif.

uh, how high is considered high ph and can be returned?

and also, how long to wait before the ph will normalize? the lfs guy told me need to wait about a month before the ph will go down then i can start putting shrimps in. its about a month and the ph is still 7.0. still cant put shrimps sad.gif

Oh thanks a lot for the reply. Really appreciate it  biggrin.gif
Urm I bought the tank set (+ filter and lamp) for RM88. Then plus sand, anti chlorine, bio ring, fish scoop, fishes, food about RM140?
Hey thanks for the info! For something as important as filter I think Im willing to buy anything under 50? Thanks for the suggestion ya!

If you do intend to get a nice fish tank and to continue in the hobby, you will definitely need a canister filter. try to get a small eheim 2213 now. It's only rm199 (cause its eheim promotion in all major stores). it's useful because:
1. its easier to get cleaner water (nicer tank) as the flowrate is higher
2. next time if u ever get a bigger tank, the canister filter can be used as well (cost saving in the long run).

i started this hobby about 2 months ago, and i now have a few HOB filter lying around doing nothing because it's not really effective and these relic from my initial investment into hobby turn out to be rather useless. just my 2 cents.

btw, i got myself a 2215 and 2217 from the promotion.. wheee!

i think for a 1.5 ft tank, 2213 is okay.. but since ur spending 200 bucks for a filter.. might as well go straight for 2215 so u can still use it if u upgrade ur tank
CO2 tank is a necessity.. solenoid is not smile.gif use the money u gonna spend for solenoid on the filter instead
unless ur a super busy person, manual regulator is adequate just that u have to adjust the bubbles more regularly
*
I was using 2215 for my 1.5ft tank. It was too strong. I had to get a lily pipe to slow things down. 2213 shud work. If all else fail, get a nice lily pipe XD and yes, co2 is more impt than good filter. but the filter is much more flexible, in that if u decide not to plant, u can still use the filter for bare aquarium with fish. or if u quit aquarium completely, u can use it to filter your morning coffee (byebye coffee bag)

hmm... co2 tank can also be used as fire extinguisher.... hmmm....

hi im new to this..(but somebody sponsorla)
just wondering if i can get any help
i have a two feet aquarium
im using a 18W only 6700k daylight bulb...=(
using ADA power soil Malaya
eheim 2213
with diy co2 doing 2-3 bubbles a minute on bubble counter
got about 3 pots of HC
some amazon swords, and anubias
cycled for two weeks already
so just to try it out i added 2 cherry barbs and 2 white mountain cloud
and about 5 cherry shrimps
in about half an hour all the shrimps started going belly up and falling on substrate
i had to rescue them and put them in a different tank and now theyre doing fine
the fishes seem to be fine except abit shy (which might be due to new surroundings)
anybody can help me figure out what the hell is wrong
ive been doing 25% water changes, and everything
????

Cherry shrimp need about 25C for temperature. Also u might want to check you ph. that was the main cause that killed 3 of my testing shrimp. and after some checking, i realized i bought the wrong batch of ADA soil (april batch) that has some problem with its composition.

not really mahal. can cut down alot. rm15 for super clear + bacter 100
rm88 1 bag
rm50 lights
rm30 fert

kaotim edi! diy co2 rm5 oni

@sexyme - AiyOOOOOOO ur rock so big and siokk!! how much la u paid for those rockkss?? easily rm12/kg and seems like its around 30-40kg there!

i love the rocks man! my only comment would be ermmmmmmmm

u see the big rock in the middle.. that Straight line from left to right looks a little bit unnatural..

so u see that big rock + that smaller rock in the middle front.. add alittle more rocks at that area so it would blend nicely..

but i love the rocks.. i love big rocks hahahahh
*
yep michanz, thats about 30-40kg there. the middle rock itself is 20+ already. i wanted to slant the rock so that it points upwards towards the right, but i cant get it done because of the weight of the rock and i cant find a suitable piece of rock to support it when slanted.

the middle front part, i had the same recommendation by Ah Yee from Natural Aquatic. Haha. i'll see what i can do about it.

@Ranchu7: Thanks smile.gif
