Guys,

I'm looking into starting an aquarium over here. As I don't have a car I cannot drive back and forth an lfs all the time.

Is there a good enough lfs in 1) Bukit Bintang area and 2) at MidValley?

What's the best area to buy a tank? I once walked around in Pudu area; and saw so many stores selling tanks (and fish).

I actually want a 1mtr tank (guess that's around 3 to 4 feet right?), but not the conventional size to keep it manageable.

I was actually looking for a tank for tiny fish (groupfish) only. The small tetra's sound nice for this (the really small version, not the regular 2cm or more....

Is it possible to buy a tank with the following size: 100cmx30cmx30cm (so long but not that high and deep), or perhaps even 100x25x25?

Any input would be great!

Ilya

p.s. this was my old tank back in the Netherlands

The driftwood is new right??? hmm.gif
Its most probably because of the tannins leaking from the driftwood. New driftwood, especially the cheap ones will leak tanins which will make the water yellowish. So normally we will submerge it under water for a few days, change the water a few time, before we actually put it in the aquarium.

One very innovative way I hear to do this is actually to put it in the holding tank of the toilet. You know the tank of water stored for flushing the toilet. The concept is that you are actually changing the water every time you flush, and the water won't even go to waste. Just put it there until the water that comes out is not brown anymore. The rest of the details you figure out yourself la... blush.gif
Lol smile.gif. I did that too yes back in the days smile.gif.

It usually takes some days to rid the wood of any color.

Did you also wash and rinse the sand itself numerous times? All the smallest particles will start to float once submerged in water.

Do know that due time plants will filter your water too, so does your actual filter. Did you fire up your filter already?

If you leave the filter on...and wait for some hours...does the water turn ok again (as in particles sink to the bottom again)?

It's either driftwood or the soil/sand ... in both cases clean/rinse more and better. Did you actually buy actual fish tank driftwood? I know I guy that used a regular stick he found in the woods; that didn't end so well as all his fish died after that.

Added on August 18, 2010, 9:36 amGuys...is it difficult to find a 3'x0.8'x0.8' tank?

I saw one recently at the Perfect Living Fair, but it looked custom made. It's a small but wide tank...especially suitable for panoramic aquatic scenes; I was hoping to put some small fish in there....

Please advise smile.gif

Can't wait smile.gif
