Its suppose to turn red when the conditions are favorable to their growth, it means your plants are healthy la... thumbup.gif

Especially when there are adequate lighting in the aquarium, they will change the pigment in the newer leaves to absorb different light spectrum.  nod.gif

And only some species will turn red, not all. If want to stop the red from coming, you can always decrease your lighting... tongue.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong... hmm.gif

haha felt relieved hearing that blush.gif I thought something wrong ... lack of nutrient or what.

Anyway, does otto helps to clear green algae? Spotted a few dots of green stuff on the glass of my aquarium, but the otto no help to clear that spot one hmm.gif

http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/algae.htm

For those with algae problem try this link, I like it cause it shows all the different types of algae and the pictures for each of them, very easy for you to identify which and what algae is in your tank.

Comes with suggestions on how to remove each of them too... thumbup.gif

nice confirm mine is green spot algae brows.gif

Added on August 22, 2010, 11:07 pmzzz after the green spot algae, now i also see some hydra sticking to my glass wall doh.gif

After doing some googling, found out that one of the method to use is to dose in Fenbendazole also known as panacur or safe guard. I know this medicine is to deworm infested pets but which shop should be selling it? Buy from aquarium or normal pet shop? hmm.gif

Added on August 28, 2010, 10:42 pmIMO, if you use HOB, you need to constantly top up water to maintain it at high enough levels so there would not be too much splashing at the outlet of the HOB causing you to loss all the precious CO2 your plants need.

So, IMO, if your planning to stick to a 1 footer and not expand into a 2 or 3 ft tank anytime soon. Its best you get a canister.
*
hey good info there. but any idea which shop selling it? hmm.gif

yea planning to change from HOB to canister now due to various reason after doing much reading brows.gif

Normal regulator is around MYR80

You basically still need :-
1) 2 check valve ( 1 way valve)
2) tube
3) Bubble Counter
4) CO2 diffuser

Cheers wink.gif
*
hehe bought my tank ady. but is the bubble counter really neccesary? i bought but didnt use ... looks ugly hmm.gif

missing out on the valve. btw, how to determine whether my tank is up for a refill?

Added on August 31, 2010, 8:57 pmand i want to ask also, the normal tube sell in fish shop can be consider as co2 resistant tubing ady rite? hmm.gif

hey guys,

i just purchase a bag a ADA Amazonia II Regular and done some jar test with it. the water color change to milky brown straight after i put in. it is normal?
*
cloudy i guess. yes its normal, don't stir it too much, and pour the water using the correct method into the tank without disturbing the soil. The water will be cleared in maybe hours or days depends on ur tank size provided you have the 5 element (not sure which is the one that really helps in making the water clear).

tragedy happened in my tank. left for a short break, came back 3 days later and found new members. my housemate thought my tank looked boring with shrimps and just 2otos and added tetras, danios and 2cory catfish.

and guess what i found on the tank bottom. heads and bodies of my cherry shrimps...3 of them.. and so far no more sightings of the babies..sigh.

have a few more shrimps in there. but i dun have an extra tank to separate them. but i guess there are still hiding spots for them. hopefully.

@booby, i feed my otos algae wafers say 2-3x a week.
*
o_O tmr i try shop for some wafers brows.gif otos are really cute in a way ...
