noyze - dont go killing fishes lah
chuppy - dont lansi u got 6 footer ihiiihihihihihihihhihiihii i also can flame mah hhahahahahaha u all can flame each other haha ill be helpfull around here and answer peoples questions QUOTE(jjjkj @ Oct 25 2010, 07:53 PM) Sifu's new here. How do i get started on getting a planted tank. putting in plants making scape all can do no prob.. cheap also..I haveĀ 1feet nano tank( Ocean free set) = 1 lighting and 1 HOB filter. I read through about CO2 and DIY CO2. Now i would want to make a CHEAP aquascape tank. Or i should just aquascape with plants that do not require CO2 injection( Java Moss / Marimo). My ulterior motive was to create a Breedable CRS/RCS shrimp tank. As long as the tank can breed these shrimp can already. but once u think of introducing shrimps then a big problem comes in. smaller tank means water conditions will be more unstable. shrimps need good water quality to survive. the smaller the tank the harder to maintain. it is not undoable. can be achieved! but very the susah This post has been edited by michanz: Oct 25 2010, 09:11 PM |

QUOTE(elainor @ Oct 28 2010, 06:20 PM) i made a small experiment...2 crs in a 3ft tank with some mosses and of course full setup for crs needs just to test water...guess wat the female carried eggs in a week lol... aiyer so lucky! either its luck or ur really good! haha the bigger the tank the easier for water quality to be stabilized.QUOTE(crewmy @ Oct 29 2010, 09:57 AM) yeah i think i want to convert one of my nano tanks to be a shrimp tanks, maybe start with rcs that seems to be easy to breed. much is luck when getting "ggod' shrimps! basically sometimes its hard to see the difference between male/female.. id say get 10 and by chance ull get males and females hahanow, where do i start? where can i get 'good' shrimps, and how to identify male/female or pregnant ones? hope u guys can help. thanks. QUOTE(moe81 @ Oct 29 2010, 08:23 PM) woohhh ur picture so sexayh!! not being homo lolQUOTE(BenSow @ Oct 29 2010, 10:06 PM) Guys anyone breed before zebra danios or know any knowledge on it? Because I wanna know how big are their eggs so I can buy a breeder net that has holes big enough for eggs to fall to the bottom... i have no experience in fish breeding lol. i guess ull have to search the netAnd anyone know where to find egglayer powdered food? Thanks Added on October 30, 2010, 2:00 pm@ABC - dude thats a real small tank. my advice would be, small tank = small plants. well its a good start for u to understand the plants, how it grows, how fert doses are scheduled. once u go along, get more knowledge, ull get to choose suitable plants for specific tank sizes. in a small tank like that, id say go for riccia carpet and probably some midgroud plants for ur background. like those sttyrlogynae. and play around with some mosses. that rock is way too big! but with proper plants u can make that rock work. im a fan of oversized rocks hhhaha This post has been edited by michanz: Oct 30 2010, 02:00 PM |

QUOTE(Noyze @ Oct 31 2010, 11:59 PM) Dang really envy you guys man. How i miss KL, anyways, whole week been shopping around all the LFS in MIRI and guess what? nobody does planted tanks here. Only 1 shop has some stuff but not much lah. No plants, and they only have Azoo plant treatment ( general dose) the lights are uber exp haiz, and well this shop has CO2 reactors and difusers but maaan they look really old lolx and dusty etc. SO will do ye old DIY with jello lolx always works! lolx. other than that the only lighting i managed to get is a simple nano sized one less than 1 foot lolx. for a 2.5ft tank haiz. nvm lah I cant find any soil anyways. Only one i found is just a 4.5kg bucket of terra soil. u come back here then oni we buy lar.. mafan wana post right.. come here we shopping!!! hahaOh I cant get any rocks either!! >.< Looks like I'll have to go hunting at the nurseries and head to the beach for the "white sand" and drift wood soon. Anyways, I think i might head up to KL if i'm free for a weekend sometime soon i hope. Oh and if anyone has any used lighting for sale DO let me know. I'll get Michanz to purchase on my behalf then either post it to me or wait till i get back to collect. But overall condition of the tank is a constant 23 degrees ( 24 aircon games room) so it's a very nice temp for moss breeding!!! lolx. Overall the plants which michanz sent to me are well, yet to be settled, they just sitting in the tank for now and actually growing! lolx. Oh btw, Michanz, you still active in MAC forum arr? Any forum I can get in for WTB and WTS items? the online shop too exp lah lolx. i only know MAC. and im sure most of people in MAC malas wana do postage 1 haha QUOTE(jjjkj @ Nov 1 2010, 08:03 PM) Guys, why my java moss like dat 1. Btw i plant java moss b4. It was suppose to be dark green/green. I bought mine from EastAqua at MidV. The Moss is inside the plastic, so i suspect it lacks of something. Maybe phosphorous or iron?? Or wadever. Or is it ok?? aiyo bro! get some wood or rocks and tie la.. dont hantam one rock ontop of it.. lol.. u do dat, it wont grow nicely at all..and ull kill the bottom part of the moss, when that dies off and rots away, ull see ur moss floating lah! dont worry. moss super hardy lah.. get a nice wood / rock tie the moss to it. tie neatly ull see the moss grow neatly as well!>Btw i bought my drawf hair grass potted(emersed), so is it natural that some of my grass are turning brown due to acclimation?? Substrate:GEX red packet Lighting: 3.5 watt per gal. 6 hours of light at midnight till 6am. Temperature: 28 Celcius during day. 26 at midnight(Air-cond) No Co2, No fertilizer. Tank running for 3days. no fert no co2 mosses will stil grow. slow, but surely grow. dont worry. why did u buy emersed form? if ur tank not stable, when the plant turn brown at first to acclimatise, i takut it wont recover if your tank isnt stable enough. get all in one fertilizer would be enuff if u dont plan on getting co2 bro! Added on November 1, 2010, 9:47 pm QUOTE(tenchi0205 @ Oct 31 2010, 05:40 PM) SAes I have nitemare on them... SAE does get the job done. and more!Amano will search for it next week in Penang...any place got sell amano? it will kacau ur shrimps.. eat the babies sometimes.. took me weeks/months to hunt for it! finally caught it yesterday while it was sleeping.. i think it woke up in the net. i left it in the net ontop of me tank hihhihi This post has been edited by michanz: Nov 1 2010, 09:47 PM |

QUOTE(jjjkj @ Nov 1 2010, 10:04 PM) Lol, coz i see at 88mart got drawf and its cheaper at M.V then i buy lo. Then after planting, then only i realize, why some of the grass brown di(after 1day). Hmmm, if my grass 'really cant' make it, then i will just get some at M.V(immersed). moss doesnt have roots and it doesnt grow out from the soil.. mosses grow on rocks or wood and not in the soil.. like i said, u tanam in soil, after few weeks the moss in the soil dies and rots and the moss will float around lol.Btw, if i put moss inside the substrate is it ok?? lol coz lazy tie it up. This is my 1st planted tank btw, so sifu's here tunjuk ajar sikit. TQ TQ if u like it likedat under the rock then leave it lor.. but u wont get moss growth like u see in the pictures or display tanks lah.. u can tie it to that white rock also.. google for tying moss. see d picturess how they tie mosses |

QUOTE(Noyze @ Nov 2 2010, 07:45 AM) Michanz, Yeah i KNOW you LOVE shopping for fish stuff like the old days ey? hehe but seriously not sure when I can go back to KL this year. Heck even Xmas I'll be in Miri >.< oit!! try ask GGMIng. he wanted to sell me some lights before.. u have his facebook right? he can get alot of stuff for u as well since he has unlimited connections.. and he has his own fish shop already woo wooo!!Mustang : how much you selling your seachem flourish and excel? oh and for Delivery to Miri, Sarawak. Trust me i'm serious about getting stuff here. aBc! : never heard of neon tetra's being aggresive before. Update : OK. I did some research and found out I can use Akadama Soil for Bonsai plants which is what Takashi Amano used to use before his line of ADA soil. However, sad thing for me is, I called a friend who runs a large nursery here and guess what? they dun have stock of that either! >.< haiz... they use their own mixture. time for more research ... >.< Oh and guys, if u have any used stuff like lighting, plants, Hoses ( yeah cant get 1 inch hoses here, the green ones ), etc. DO let me know i WANT 'em ALL!!! QUOTE(imr4n @ Nov 2 2010, 10:01 AM) QUOTE(crewmy @ Nov 2 2010, 11:24 AM) well, my yamato seems to have this type of 'cancer' for more than a month already, do they carry this cancer for so long? plan to move it to an empty tank and see if can get shrimplets or not. HEhe i guess u guys got the joke.. basically their eggs. yamato lives in an environment where the river meets the sea. halfway fresh halfway salt water. and they need this water to breed or for the babies to survive.. 3 of my yamatos are like urs as well.. i think its been well over a month also for me, stil has the eggs on its belly. and im not expecting any babies from it either.if ur lucky i guess ull get babies. but try not to get ur hopes up anyway Added on November 2, 2010, 11:40 am QUOTE(zackertashia @ Nov 2 2010, 10:04 AM) wah bro..so pity dat moss oh..last time u planted liddat oso leh? looks like java moss to me. healthy growth there u can always tie the moss as michanz said.. here's example of the moss i tied in my tank.. ![]() and here's after nearly 2 month.. ![]() it's not the best tank around i know due to the algae and all, just wanna share the results after tying the moss..it's a poor man's tank anyway for example ![]() ![]() so thick and bushy u can trim it to look like a flamingo or a dragon or a bear. lol This post has been edited by michanz: Nov 2 2010, 11:40 AM |

QUOTE(Noyze @ Nov 2 2010, 02:51 PM) WAAA GGming got own fish shop d arr? damn man.. the Sifu of all sifus! hehehe been a long time since i last saw him or even spoken to him. Maybe he forgot me edi lolx. Yeah ggming got shop edi in oug . Who can forget u la giles.. U hav his fb right?pm him there laas for CO2 injection, actually you do not need CO2 injection if you are running a low tech tank. A plant basically needs 3 things , which I like to call the plant triangle. Nutrients, Light and CO2. A plant is adaptable by nature and by providing say excess Lighting it will spend less effort in looking for lighting and make more effort in looking for nutrients and CO2, it's just how they work. You have to see however what kind of plants you are growing. If say java moss, then CO2 is totally unnecessary. All you need is nutrients and lighting. No doubt it will grow slower compared to WITH CO2 but it is not necessary. QUOTE(zackertashia @ Nov 2 2010, 04:06 PM) if u noticed from my 1st pic, i already got that java moss in there, just trimmed them before snap.. the one i ikat to stone are spiky and flame moss.. weird enough the java moss blooms like nobody business after trimming! maybe i shall trim my spiky and flame too to boost their growth? really in love for spiky moss for the reason uve just said michanz, thick and bushy, err.. the spiky moss la!
