just wondering how much will it cost to replace a "traditional' door to sliding door ? planning to change it for master bedroom rather than using the default door..

btw.. will that sounds weird if i were to change it ? guess it might sounds noisy when sliding the door ?

Sliding door for master bedroom is a unique idea. I guess unique can be construe as odd/weird depending on individual preference and taste.

I think you should consider the space that the sliding bracket will take up. That space need to be clear (cant put furniture there). Instead of trying to save space, you end up taking up more space.

sliding door if u opt for solid door type will have problem like "the track" of the door out of shape maybe crooked, every time when u ask for door specialist to adjust and service or repair it, you will be slap with a bill of RM100 to RM150. Its a recurring problems in long term.

i understood that the track often gives us the problem hmm in that case, adv not to change it ?

I already said it may not be space saving as you thought. I see no advantage. Why incurr the additional cost?

these days sliding door can run without the floor track, just hanging on the track hanging on the door frame...

tats oni for light weight material n correct hock weight spec, otherwise the same problem will happen.

hmm.not exactly light weight , the alu sliding door that i saw from Reliance is pretty solid in fact.

Not a problem if u invest on good/ heavy duty tracks, but it cost > rm 1k just for the track & acc.

I wish to remove my old sliding doors and replace it at a different part of my new home as I am extending my home.

Question: Can I reuse the old sliding doors (and also there's casement windows) or do I need to buy a whole new set of sliding doors and window casement?

What quality is the sliding door for the price that you have quoted? Is it the best grade or the cheapest grade?

My sister did a folding sliding set of timber doors. No tracks, no sliding mechanism, the entire set of doors supported by the hinges. Instead of the convential 2 hinge, I think she used 4. This design was advised by the timber door supplier. I think its 3 years, so far so good.

The RM21 psf sliding door is the light weight type.

The heavy duty sliding folding gate (means the entire opening is 'opened'), cost about RM80 to RM100 psf. This is usually supplied with thicker alum material, and the sliding mechanism is expensive. Some use taiwan type, one company uses henderson from UK.

I think if u get a alum door guy to come and 'recycle' your old set, it is not going to be cheap. I had a problem with my door (8') and a guy came to quote. If change the track only, RM500 but if the side frame has to change it came to RM1,500. Cost aside, to be green, it is worth to consider to recycle.

That means it will be more costly if i wish to recycle my doors is tat wat u meant?
