today i built one of Cmoy with my remaining OPA2134 again. =)
just to brushing up my soldering skill. hand a bit keras liao. =P

the bass. is so fat anyway compare to OPA637

sigh.. i kena poison of the fast speed of OPA637 liao.. =(
OPA 637 even plug to AC97 also quite ok on KSC75..
=P

Smaller? Go SMD lah. PPAS is smaller than your Cmoy.

pcWork,

how does this opa2134 sound ?

how much would an opa2134 cost in jalan pasar ?

Thanks.

p.s: am i allowed to ask that here ?  sweat.gif
*
@eokboy . Roger that. thanks for info. will goes into SMC once my new amp is done. =P

@BraThief wink.gif wink.gif u steal bra?
haha
sorry.. ok
opa2134 i got from BSL555 long long time ago
roughly RM 10-12
u can't find it in jalan pasar. perhaps farnel will have.
it sound ah
it's much warmer compare to LDM+ if u use it in cmoy.
sound stage not bad. bass heavy. but slow bass. not as fast and accurate as 637
=P
overall very good loh the sound
match with KSC75 ka... IEM ok ok loh.
=) and it's easier to control with lower voltage.

erm...

opa637 bass's  response is much faster than opa2134 ?
Lets just say, im using the tangentsoft schematics, and can i use this opa637 ?

Sorry for the noob question. smile.gif

QUOTE(lAh0S @ Apr 27 2007, 06:52 PM)
You can't.
OPA637 is single channel while OPA2134 is dual channel. smile.gif
*
actually can
the schematic shown for cmoy is actually singel channel
so we combine left and right (we double everythings) to make it dual channel.
for cmoy yes u can use it but 637 is harder to control, it need much "clean" power supply. and it's much more expensive
opa2134 = RM 12
opa 637 = RM 50 best price. u need two
so the op amp alone will be RM 100. =) other parts add in. can easily reach RM 150-> RM 200.
with that budget i rather go for other schematic then. =P

perhaps like opa627/opa637..other alternatif is opa2107 (dual channel)..should be same sound signature (read at head-fi)
*
=P
IMHO. same sound signature, but OPA637 is far more better. =P

Insist on gold pins?.. I don't think its available at Jln Pasar. They mostly retail the normal variety. Its usable but IMO, the quality is not entirely top notch. Had a few with loose pins...and it came from Nixie.
IMHO, I can hardly hear audible difference between non-gold and gold pinned sockets. Best is actually solder the damn chip PERMANENTLY!.

littleghost,

i bought the same one u have in the picture. but mine is the normal one, yours looks like its gold , is it ?

bsl555,

im afraid that i might fry the amp while soldering the legs directly to the board. i might do that once i have enough confidence in not frying it and when i am 100% sure the board is working, who knows i might screw it up whistling.gif

hehehe...

Is there any significant difference in the sound produced if i use the gold socket than the normal ic socket ?

THANKS to ALL smile.gif

u are answering the question. but i see that he actually answered the question u asked before... wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif

There's some schools of thought that socketing IC's are bad if its going to be permanent, especially if low noise and interference rejection is paramount and to be achieved. Nevertheless, if one is doing prototyping and for experimentation, by all means use a socket for convenience. Once the circuitry is to one's expectation, all components are to soldered in permanently.

so there's a korea soundcard with all the DIP socket is actually bad design? giving more chances of having noise?
