i have a question, if we get better @ stable driver . can FPS at the game become more better than the not stable driver ? wondering

Run a benchmark (e.g. 3D Mark Vantage, in-game benchmark like in RE5, Dirt2, Crysis, etc.) right now with your current driver and then later (tomorrow hopefully) update the driver and run a benchmark again to see any improvements.

I hope for the stability first and performance gain second...but since Nvidia steps up the game with their new cards, it would be fitting to gain a bit of performance from the drivers for the ATi cards...
it's been over 8 months already that the 5 Series was launched, perhaps it's about time for the Catalyst Team to fully unleashed these cards.... Even the previously 4 Series didn't take this long to be fully unleashed...

But, I am wondering who can try this out.

i already try beta version 10.7 catalyst.. increase my 3dmark vantage about 1++mark..

can see it stable..

will try out 10.7 whql later..

I am not interested on this CCC 10.7 WHQL. There's even CCC 10.8 Beta 5 and CCC 10.7 OGL ES2 around officially.
I am waiting for TwL Modded Driver(latest driver based) instead.
Much more stable and better performance.

Alright, had just ran a benchy with 3DMark Vantage.
[Powercolor 5850 stock clock @ 725/1000 ]

10.3 (the first driver to leap in performance and stability) vs. 10.4 (best WHQL driver so far for the the Catalyst 10 series) vs. 10.7 (current up-to-date driver)

From this synthetic benchmark:
I'm reluctant to say that the Catalyst Team has 'hit the wall' in bringing out more performance from the 5 Series, but somehow it's inevitable to say that the results indicates them running out of ideas of how to 'boost up' the performance majorly...only about 200 points improved from Vantage isn't convincing data....at least I was expecting 15xxx points

Downloaded 10.7 and its CCC is still as broke as 10.6
Whatever I do, CCC will refuse to load. Ever. Mom.exe will just pop up for 1sec or so and then disappears.

And my uninstalling of drivers has been the same as ever, uninstall > safe mode > driver sweeper + driver cleaner + cc cleaner > reboot > install new driver. It used to work for older versions back then unless there's a new uninstall method which I didn't get the memo for.

How do you guys get your CCC to work?

i don't use CCC anymore. still on 10.4 no CCC, using msi afterburner to tweak voltage and clocks.

I installed and love the Modded CCC + Driver from TwL and didn't use CCC(after 10.4) to do the OC. Because it'll stuck at very high clock speeds and causing higher temperature.
So, I use the almighty MSI Afterburner.

I got 14885 on my stock XFX 5850 running 10.7

conclusion is that we stay at 10.4 will b the best at the moment?

for me, I believe the update is not only to get the 3dmark score higher, but there must be some fix and update in other areas, so I'm sticking with 10.7

does your ccc works fine with 10.7 whql??

I tried reinstalling after the 4th time even downloading without using any download accelerators but still fails. On the fifth time, I just installed 10.7 driver only and used 10.4 CCC only and CCC finally launched.

It seems like 10.4's CCC is stable enough.

I guess that your CCC failed to launch?
You can just try to install 10.7 driver only and then install 10.4's CCC.
At least this works on mine
