Bro Darksilver and other 'mod driver' users if you're reading this:

TwL from guru3d forum has updated the latest mod driver: Final Build v3.73 10.8b5 baseline - [01.08.2010]

Have you guys tried it yet?  biggrin.gif
Just itching to try but not yet confident in these unofficial drivers  sweat.gif

I am going to test this out. However, I need to download it right now(slow).
My house had been run out of electric for days(until now haven't fix) due to my land lord didn't pay the TNB. doh.gif doh.gif
Now, I need to use my friend's slow internet connection to download and bring my Desktop over his place to test. sad.gif

Installed the Modded TwL(based on CCC 10.8 Beta) Driver flawlessly.
I didn't try the 3DMark Vantage on it yet.
About SC2, not sure if it can do "Force AA" on it. But, I don't care about the "Force AA" because the game itself doesn't have any AA settings to begin with. Cheer.
In addition, I read that after forcing the AA on SC2, the FPS will be dropped like hell too. Pointless. Let alone on the game itself is more than enough for me.

By the way, who tested the CCC 10.7a Beta? It's good?
I think that TwL will create a Driver based on CCC 10.7a Beta... hmm.gif hmm.gif
According to what TwL said, the CCC 10.7 WHQL have a very bad DX11 supports/performance. So, I think the TwL Modded CCC 10.8 Beta works best for me. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Try TwL Modded Driver! thumbup.gif nod.gif
They're damn good.
About the Idling Clocks Bug, that's not a bug basically. That's how stupid AMD/ATi fixes flickering screens. doh.gif doh.gif

already modified 10.8..

very fast la..

I need to see the feedbacks 1st. Then, I only will try it. tongue.gif

But, TwL already turned off the Modded CCC 10.8 Beta due to instability.
I don't get any problem, so, I guess I would just use it.

It seems the TwL Modded CCC 10.8 Beta have some problems on me finally.
I'll try TwL Modded CCC 10.7a Beta(SC2) sooner or later.
Hope it boosts my SC2 performance. LOL.

I got weird texture on SC2 using the TwL Modded CCC 10.7a Beta(Final 3.75 Build) sometime(seldom). However, I don't really care about that. LOL. tongue.gif

but powercolor pcs+ cannot be unlock even i use to unlock with msi afterburner.. doh.gif

Why? It's very strange. Because MSI Afterburner supposes can do that on all GPUs.

Did you ever hack your registry entries for your MSI Afterburner?
If you doesn't, it won't work.

8XC as maximal temperature for Radeon HD5800(Stock ATI HSF and it's on CCC AUTO FAN SPEED) is common and standard.

Now, I think ASUS Non-Reference PCB had very low quality because most users reported it to be problematic.
Sapphire Non-Reference PCB also problematic too but not as much as ASUS.
Gigabyte, PowerColor and MSI are less problematic currently.

Thanks JoBigShow.
I have ordered and used the TX2 for my processor from Lingloong. Just wonder how much different btw TX2 and TX3? smile.gif

I will email powercolor for proof if i were to change the thermal paste.
*
The Difference is insignificant if your HSF already reached it's maximal limit.
I think the ATi Radeon HD5800-Series Stock HSF haven't reach it's maximal limit by a lot(since JoBigShow said it improved by 6-8C). So, Tuniq TX-3 is more worth it.

hi ATI sifu.. i hav some questions here.
will CM 460W EXTREME POWER sufficient enough to support HD 5750?
and hows the 6-pin PCI Express works? where did the connector connect to?
sorry for the newb question coz i never use ATI card.
but i'm thinking to join this big family..  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif
*
CM 460Watt Extreme Power Plus PSU is not AFPC and 80+. So, means it's not TRUE POWER. It's maximal power output should be around 360-400Watt only.
It's not recommended(ATi said 450Watt True Power PSU is recommended) but it should be fine running the Radeon HD5750 since it consumes very low power only.

Some PSU doesn't come with the 6-Pin PCI-E Power Cable. You need the converter. The converter can be get either it's bundled with the Graphic Card or you buy it from shops.

this is so wrong!! temperature differences ALSO due to the QUALITY of the thermal paste u use
*
+1. He's indeed wrong.

Ignore the QUALITY 1st.
Applying a lot of Thermal Paste doesn't mean to reduce heat conduction.
Personally, I have tried to test Minor, Optimal and Excessive Thermal Paste for my Processor.
Minor Thermal Paste, resulting temperature goes higher than usual. The heat conduction is not optimized due to micro-gaps between HSF and CPU.
Optimal and Excessive, result. Both give optimal cooling performance. However, excessive of Thermal Paste can cause the Paste to spill everywhere when pressure(from HSF) is applied. It's safe if the thermal paste your use is Non-Electrical Conductive, like Tuniq TX-3.

Now, QUALITY/PERFORMANCE of the Thermal Paste.
Good Thermal Paste(better chemical compound/composition) allows more heat to be transfered while Poor Thermal Paste(lousy chemical compound/composition) allows lesser heat to be transfered.

Use TwL Modded CCC 10.8 Beta(v3.80 Final).
I guess it should fix your problem.

already tested in game?  smile.gif

If you read up the v3.75 reports, there's a lot of users complain it's problematic. Even TwL said that the Driver have bugs too.
The new TwL Modded 10.8 Beta(v3.80a) should be better. Bugs fixed and performance boost! smile.gif

Nice PSU, never seen this before  thumbup.gif

Well, this PSU I'm confident to use it with my OC'ed 5850, enough to CF the 5750 (and the 5770) if you're think about it.  biggrin.gif
Might as well be good enough for an OC'ed 5870  tongue.gif
I don't know about an overclocked GTX480 though... whistling.gif

See, when you buy good PSU you are investing it for using much powerful graphic cards in the future...(and of course other hardware like when upgrading the proc, etc.)

Added on August 9, 2010, 1:56 am
Bro, why don't you enabled the V-Sync?

Yeah, this game runs superbly on the 5850. 120FPS~ish all the way... thumbup.gif

I luv 'Unreal Engine 3', it's utilizes the GPU to it's full potential so far as my card is concerned (PC 5850), unlike Metro 2033's engine, or worst, the old CryENGINE (Crysis 1 and Warhead)  doh.gif
*
You never see before?
For me CM GX Series PSU is 1 of the worst PSU ever.
If you check the reviews, you'll see how it damages your hardwares(unlucky) when being stressed.

The guy would only pay for a HD 5750 and you want to suggest him an 800W PSU that's more suited for dual HD 5870? doh.gif

The CM 460W would be enough. The HD 5750's TDP is only 84W. It may even be possible to go dual HD 5750 if you want.
*
800Watt PSU can even powered up 3x Radeon HD5870 CFX easily.
CM EPP 460W PSU(Non-True Power) should be able to run 1x Radeon HD5750 flawlessly.
If you want to play safe, then, take 450Watt PSU(True Power) or above.

Yeah, ever since it was announced couple of months ago that the 28nm chips wouldn't be available until late 2011 or 2012, the 6 Series wouldn't improve to the point that it would pull away significantly from the 5 Series, except should have more Tessellation power and such.
But until there aren't enough DX11 games out there, the 6 Series wouldn't make you feel left out when you are still using the 5 Series in 2011... unless it provides MORE POWER  drool.gif
Are you sure it's the complete 10.7 package, like this:

Sometime Desktop Driver is not same as Laptops Driver. But, sometime can be same.
So, don't mix them up.

By the way, Jabberwocky, if you're interested in scoring higher marks at 3DMarkVantage, you can try TwL Modded Drivers(you can check the 1st post of this thread/topic). nod.gif nod.gif

your ccc is 9.11..

old driver...

better update your driver..
*
His Driver is really old. But, that's from DELL themselves.
You can try to remove your old Driver completely(check how to do it entirely clean, thanks). "Dirty" Driver installation or uninstallation can lead to big problem later.
After that, only install the Driver you downloaded. Currently, CCC 10.7 is the latest WHQL(Official) Driver.
