I thought about it, but I think upgrading the current one will be the best. Cause I still have a 550w PSU lying around, so I just do some heavy OCing and voila!

should I go for HD4xxx instead?

QUOTE(8tvt @ Oct 15 2010, 11:06 PM)
is it pcie?
better lowered 5 series.. 56xx is ok..

If it is PCIe, I also would recommend the HD 5670 or the HD 4670. They will pwn any x1900 in every single respect but cost; performance, size, power consumption, heat generated, noise generated. They will be gloriously overkill for such an old machine. brows.gif

To save cost, boycott the 1GB models and look for the 512MB ones instead. It will save you a lot of money and the performance will be about the same.

i edit the graphic to make it easier to understand the relationship of 5k series to 6k series.

for graphics card comparison between AMD and NVIDIA, pls refer to Tom's Hardware Graphics Card Hierarchy Oct 2010

obviously i place the nvidia cards as not to scale but based on rough idea i get from the hierarchy chart.

I'm not quite sure whether it is PCIe or not, is there many types? I thought it's all standard?

CPU-Z or GPU-Z should also be able to identify if it is an AGP or PCIe
