IMO..a telephoto will produce a nicer bokeh compared to a cheap zoom lens..55-200mm? im currently looking for a quite good potrait bokeh zoom lens. because my sal16105 not so nice bokeh but quite sharp. is the KM/SAL 28-75 f/2.8 good?? also got offer to trade my sal16105 to km135 f/2.8 (non stf). thinking its quite tight (wide) but good bokeh. how how how?? as for those 3 lenses, didn't use before, so no comment |

QUOTE(mastering89 @ Jul 26 2010, 01:48 PM) i need suggestion. Depending on how you use your 16-105mm, you should know if you are a wide or telephoto person. If you are mostly using the 16mm end then you are a wide person and the 28mm may not be wide enough for you and cause you frustration. Especially since you're using it on APS-C.im currently looking for a quite good potrait bokeh zoom lens. because my sal16105 not so nice bokeh but quite sharp. is the KM/SAL 28-75 f/2.8 good?? also got offer to trade my sal16105 to km135 f/2.8 (non stf). thinking its quite tight (wide) but good bokeh. how how how?? or im thinking juz get sal50 1.4 and kitty cat.. how? If you use the 105mm mostly then a 135mm can work for you. 50mm is a love it or hate it thing on APS-C so again depending on what your tastes are. Like I always say, shoot with your existing lens until you KNOW what you want before buying. |

16mm definitely. If you never had any experience with prime lens you might find it a burden. But the NEX5 + 16mm combo is just too awesome la if I have the choice to get one. (:

QUOTE(mastering89 @ Jul 26 2010, 01:48 PM) i need suggestion. Comparing 16mm and 28mm is a huge difference. The KM 28-75 on APS-C is not wide at all. Try restricting yourself from shooting 28mm and below, see whether you're comfortable with it.im currently looking for a quite good potrait bokeh zoom lens. because my sal16105 not so nice bokeh but quite sharp. is the KM/SAL 28-75 f/2.8 good?? also got offer to trade my sal16105 to km135 f/2.8 (non stf). thinking its quite tight (wide) but good bokeh. how how how?? or im thinking juz get sal50 1.4 and kitty cat.. how? If you're into portrait, IMO... 135mm would be a great addition, it's down to personal preference. |

zstan : yup. kena racun my bro take this sal75300. the 135mm CZ is f/1.8
CZ135 f/1.8 (new) = Samyang 85mm 1.4 + SAL50mm 1.4 + beercan + NEX3+pancake + 49mm CZ filter wha7ever : no no im not comparing 16mm to 28mm, i sometimes shoot landscape (16mm-24mm) but love potraiture more. and the sal16105 is sharp but not so decent bokeh @f/5.6. i usually bring jalan2 body and prime 28mm , its ok for me already. if wanna landscape again i cari kitty sebijik la, easier and cheaper to find filter for 55mm also |

Anyway, in certain situation when u feel like zooming in there's always the Digital 10x zoom. The salesman don't even know that the NeX got Digital Zoom I think. Always remember with wide lens u can always crop inwards. If the lens is not wide enough u cannot crop outwards. This post has been edited by ianho: Jul 26 2010, 03:29 PM |

ianho: Sadly, and most stupidly, the Digital Zoom scales up the image, meaning the zoomed image is still 14 megapixels!
I wish they made it a Precision Zoom (or Smart Teleconverter, like on the A300/A330/A350/A380/A390/A500/A550). That one does a proper crop - so a 2x Smart Teleconverter on a 14 megapixel sensor is 3.5 megapixels only. |
