mastering89: Eh, why not find the proper step up ring for this?
ianho: Wah, so you can have one 16mm with the fisheye adapter hooked on, all the time!
d4rkholeang3l: Wow light painting with glass is awesome!
signither: Previously with the A900;
Daytime Set
Sony A900
Sigma 17-35mm F2.8-4.0
Minolta 70-210mm F4.0 beercan
Nighttime Set
Sony A900
Sigma 17-35mm F2.8-4.0
Minolta 50mm F1.4
Sony HVL-F20AM
Clubbing Set
Sony Cybershot WX-1
I don't actually travel much - mostly company trips where the clubbing happens within the hotel premises so I can bring just the nighttime set.
Also, for real travel I end up not using the flash at all.
So yeah... I forsee this being my setup:
Daytime Set
Sony NEX-5
Sony HVL-F7S
Sony E 16mm F2.8
Sony LA-EA1 lens adapter
Minolta 24-105mm F3.5-4.5(D)
Nighttime Set
Sony NEX-5
Sony HVL-F7S
Sony E 16mm F2.8
Sony LA-EA1 lens adapter
Minolta 50mm F1.4
Clubbing Set
Sony NEX-5
Sony HVL-F7S
Sony E 16mm F2.8
The Sony LA-EA1 and 24-105mm is very pocketable.
Still, 24 megapixels is 24 megapixels... and I haven't managed to open the NEX-5 RAWs yet so I can't tell if they're solid enough and as pullable as the A900 RAWs are. Though, in your case, since you don't have an A850 anymore, the only reason to carry an A700 around is if you want to do birding.
fruitie: To be honest - I'd rate the A550, 550D and NEX-5 to all have the same ISO performance. DxOMark proves this also, although the Canon is more colorblind in the red channel.
Having looked at the 1D MkIII colors versus the D300 and A900 on a X-Rite Color Checker Passport - Canon colors are generally muted and less vibrant. The Adobe Standard profiles for each camera show the Nikon and Sony to have more flourescent, vibrant yellows - but this is actually overdone, when we loaded the X-Rite-generated profiles.
