I'm buying a service appartment from a developer.

S&P Legal fee is "free". Loan documentation Legal free is also free if the developer lawyer is used.

My questions is, should I appoint a lawyer to represent me as the purchaser? According to the developers lawyer, it's waste of money, S&P is governed by HDA. In the entire working career of the developer lawyer, he has never encountered purchaser appoints own lawyer.

Can someone please advise?

the purpose of appointing a lawyer yourself is to safeguard your own interest....sometimes it is better to pay extra and safe the hazard (in the future, if there were)...good luck smile.gif

Just read your agreement carefully before you sign.

It should be ok if you buying from reputable developer.

You might have to fork out money for your SNP. I think it is safe since most of the buyer is using the developer lawyer.

this could be the question you might be asking:
shall i appoint a professional to check for defects upon completion?

well...depends on the developer you're buying from...if its reputable enough (like ...maybe...listed in KLSE might help)....REHDA members....than you should be ok....if not....you better fork out some money to appoint your own lawyer....some lawyer are crooks nowadays....they work with developers to screw you later...just recently happens to my fren...
