Yes that's what I thought. There is no way to figure out from the box itself if a blu ray release is really worth it untill u read reviews. That's not very consumer friendly. They should at least highlight if it is remastered. Old films and chinese films will look especially bad if not remastered.

Thanks all

In the case of certain movies which were released before badly, the studios will re release stating that it's remastered. This also works for really old movies (the ones where the original film have stood the test of time). Unfortunately, it's not standardized so you won't know from the box itself.

I don't really have much to buy during Black Friday.

I think I have mostly everything. Maybe the classic disney releases. Expensive now over $23-29.

I pre-ordered Splice for $24.99 and the order is waiting to be shipped (invoice still shows $24.99 + shipping fee) Then they said there were some changes and changed the price to $32.49.

Will I still get the $24.99 price or will they charge me the $32.49 price when it finally comes out?

For pre-order, Amazon will charge you the lowest price since you placed the order until release date.  So, in this case, is $24.99 + shipping fee.

So, beware, never cancel and re-pre-order again.  Otherwise, you final price may change.

Ahh thanks. That's some good news!

That's one reason why many retailers for a lot of stuff online refuse to ship to Malaysia. Because of our postal service. The people working there give it a bad name. Items go missing, and they retailers are tired of having to resend. Amazon is fine because they can resend 20 times without losing a buck but other online retailers are smaller and cannot afford to lose.

In addition wif bro Low's info: in the instance that 2 separate parcels; total cost less than RM500 each; shipped separately on different dates but if both happened to arrive at the same time where combined total will be more than RM500.... oso can kena TAX!! But don't worry, being tax and kena molest/rape are two separate issues coz it involved two separate departments... but can happened 2gether-gether which is the worst.... rclxub.gif

Are you sure? Because it has only applied to each parcel so far for me.

Ah ha, maybe normal post. If it's dhl, etc then I've had up to 5 parcels over the RM500 limit at the same time and was never taxed.

Yeah, it's all based on their whim for the day.

I've ordered some artsy french movies before with some disturbing content and it's come in without a problem. But I've had some normal comedies stopped and checked and kept for weeks on end for no reason. doh.gif

Mostly older tv series and movies. You'll find titles like Supernatural, Weeds, etc going down to half price or more.

QUOTE(Bleacher @ Aug 14 2010, 04:54 PM)
It'd be naive to think every title would have massive discounts on a Black Friday sale and I too am hoping for discounts on older titles. Unlike most members here, I have a relatively small collection ( < 30) and would chuck on older titles while waiting for newer titles to have a discount.

PS: Your collection count in your signature link = 0.
*
I'm just looking for a discount on the Weeds blu-rays. But true, most older titles will have significant discounts. The new titles, it's basically up to Amazon which ones they'll give a decent discount on. But I wouldn't really look for cheap prices with the newly released titles.

Ahh yeah, doing some spring cleaning with the list. Will update again later smile.gif

If last year was anything to go by, special editions and boxsets would get sizable discounts.

By the way, how big/small is your collection already? smile.gif

Updated the list. Just a few in my collection so far. Controlling me spending smile.gif
