Hey peeps, I damaged my side mirror when i nicked a lorry parked on the side of the road. Sigh. But what's done is done. The pictures below show the extent of the damage. Do note that:

a. The signal light works, that wont need replacing.
b. There's a chip on the "casing" of the side mirror. I'm not sure if I want to replace it or not. Suggestions? Prices?
c. The motor that rotates the mirror AND the motor that rotates the mirror arm so it can close still works
d. Thus apparently I don't need to replace the whole arm, only the "mirror"

How much do I need to replace:

1) Only the mirror

or

2) The whole thing including the mirror and the arm

p/s The car belongs to my dad, I don't have the luxury to own the car. I'm driving it since I don't have a car yet. Thanks biggrin.gif

Dear Frd,

you are very lucky, it was only the mirror that is cracked, if the whole arm is damage it will cost you alot more to fix.

i suggest that you called to C&C ask for a quotation for the replacement of mirror, these will give you a rough indication how much the glass would cost. Then ask around from shop that supply continental spareparts & ofcos source from half cut warehouse if you want to save on cost for replacement.

thanks for the reply. just called them, RM724 just for the mirror, RM400 for the labor. damn. if i source for the mirror myself, can i bring it to a continental car repair shop to assemble it? typically how much should i expect to pay for labor? any half-cut shop in subang that u know of?

Noticed there's a crack line where it's connected to your door. Is it a crack or a reflection of power line behind?

If that's a crack, suggest u just change the whole thing. Would cost u an arm or leg for that. 2k? just guessing

The cheap method:
- go to paint shop & patch/spray it back.
- go to mirror shop, get them to cut one & glue it back into the frame.

Or go to spare parts shop selling Benz parts, buy a replacement mirror & install.

yeah it does. it has 2 wires attached to the mirror. i thought it was light sensor but you knocked some sense into me. also, ive never had any fog appear on my sidemirrors, must be the heat biggrin.gif
