well, i am really really worry for my lens... my finger is big till hard for me to open/close the lens cap.... always almost scratch the lens

nahhh it's ok, not scratchin the lens but at the bottom of the body, coz it hit a rock when i try to sit down.

to protect the lens, you can use any 49mm UV filter or clear filter. i use that to protect the lense from dust and scratches while taking pictures.

sorry for being newb here... what is auto hdr? specifically what is hdr?

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range (if im not mistaken). the camera takes 3 shots with different exposure (brightness?) values and combine it to create a single photo. So that the picture will be high in dynamic range (shadow is not deepblack, highlight is not blownout). Auto HDR is, the camera determine itself what exposure value should be chosen and automatically combine the 3 shots taken.
