Dear all,

My friends have asked me to donate blood for the good and charity this coming saturday. Therefore I would like to ask the experts here how long does it take for a person to recover fully for the next workout after donating his/her blood? Should 1 day be enough? Example if i donate my blood this Sat, then would I be able to train on Sunday ?

I am an avid swimmer. I normally donate my blood 3 months once and usually in the mornings. By evening, I'll be swimming laps in the swimming pool already.

I think you can still train, but just do not train too hard.

Although I have phobia donating blood, I am a donor. I am also very paranoid after I donate blood. I keep thinking I need time to recover the loss of blood. I pamper myself crazy (not doing this not doing that) just because I think it would take a long time to replenish the blood I lost. Surprisingly the next day I am active and in tip top condition.

That is so cool. I thought there would be a gush of blood spurting all over the place in an endless torrent then your eyes glaze over and you collapse due to hypovolemic shock and multi organ failure.

On a serious note, I'd wait a few hours.

depends where u train...it might be advisable that u dun train ur hands as the pressure might cause ur wound to break and will start bleeding again..

Depends on your blood volume, your usual activity level/fitness level, etc lah.
Just rest for a day or two.

Speaking of which...
Darklight,
Can people with thalassemia minor donate blood?
