Read in today's NST under Business Times.

DiGi's net profit climbs 18.8pc in Q2

What's interesting in the news is that,  drool.gif

"On the launch of iPhone 4, DiGi said the company has began pre-orders for the iPhone 4 and is looking into packages that allow existing 3GS customers to upgrade their phones.

Clausen said the company remains committed to launch the phone to its customers before year-end and will ensure that iPhone 4 meets expectations before launching."

Really hope that they come out with a very good, exciting plan for existing iPhone 3Gs users.  brows.gif

"allow existing 3GS customers to upgrade their phones"!!?

as in trade-in their 3GS phones!?

or revise the 2 year contract terms?

wonder what will digi do with the trade in phones

unless Apple wants em back

Should be trade-in the 3GS as well as topping-up some amount of money to it.
Then, use the traded 3GS for a new "used-phone" plan. Maybe like what Astro did right now. Used re-con decoder for a new subscription.  brows.gif

one thing bugging me is the warranty

yes digi can renew the warranty to 12 months

but apple won't (i think)

the 1st time iPhone activated through iTunes

it will register the date automatically as the starting date for the 12 months warranty

http://www.digi.com.my/iphone/support_warranty.html

well correct me if i'm wrong

this is what the digi salesperson told me when they needed to open my iphone box

its for serial number verification, warranty purpose, blah blah

aiyah... warranty starts from the day you buy the phone, same like iPod. you cannot lari from iPhone sales date, cos Apple now has very accurate tracking.

you register or don't register makes no difference to the warranty...
*
so what u meant is

if i buy an iphone, i don't activate the iphone, don't use the iphone for whole 1 year

the seller (DiGi, maxis) will register our iPhone serial number online!?

register our iphone without have to activate through itunes 1st?

Hi guys, is it worth to get iphone 3GS 16GB now? DiGi nw offer at RM2062.
Or wait for iphone 4? but how much will be the iphone 4 cost if launch at Malaysia? If over RM3k thn no point i wait for it coz its over my budget edi. How bout the price for iphone 3GS 16GB after iphone 4 release in here? will drop many? TQ!
*
i suggest u wait for iPhone 4, then again, its ultimately ur decision

by the time iPhone 4 launch here, no more 3GS 16GB & 32GB, both capacity replaced by iPhone 4

only the 3GS 8GB version will be available

QUOTE(xaw5126 @ Jul 23 2010, 05:32 PM)
@aarex
my personal planning is RM2500 for iPhone4, based on iPhone3G and 3G[S] all selling for that much.

the question is how will Digi package it? over 3K has never happened thru official channels, only thru black market... most expensive was RM2990 for 32GB iPhone3G[S]
*
agreed..most likely, iPhone 4 will be priced same as the iPhone 3G & 3GS initially launched

RRP only goes high enough to RM2990 (phone only w/out contract) wink.gif

Hi,

what do they mean by this?change the plan but not the phone?
Means can we still upgrade to iphone4?
*
means we can revise the 2 years contract

terminate the current 3GS contract, create a new contract of iPhone 4 contract + phone

but not trade-in our 3gs phones (luckily i sold mine) rclxm9.gif

What it different than you buy new iphone 4 with contact ? also need pay iphone 4 price...
*
different is that, u no need to pay the remaining 3gs contract

let say, u still tie up another 1 year, by singing up new contract, it'll make it to 3 years

the iphone 4 price is still have to be paid, regardless of new, revise contract

QUOTE(childish_gal81 @ Jul 26 2010, 01:43 PM)
then we dont need to have 2 contract...cos the current 3gs still tie to 2 years contract..so, if they allow us to upgrade to iphone 4 package, then we dun need to sign up another package.
*
exacta

QUOTE(xaw5126 @ Jul 26 2010, 02:13 PM)
that's clever... they keep you on Digi... and you pay for the new iPhone4... at least they're doing that...
still not confirmed though...
*
telco never intended to gain profit from the sales of iphones, i mean a big profit that is

they just wanna tie us up to a contract, keeping us on their network

while subsidizing the iphone price, reducing their profit on the phone

really a 'great' marketing plan by DiGi, when the 1st day DiGi launch their new plan i was so happy and would get a 3GS 16GB with just rm1390 rclxms.gif ... but after i went to DiGi centre ask about the info then i only know the truth.  vmad.gif

Increase the price of Iphone & decrease the price of the plan! (any changes?)

What a Malaysia's Most Affordable Iphone Plan is now even MORE Affordable!!! thumbup.gif DiGi Geng ar!!
*
if u do the calculation

you do save up to rm2++ with the new digi plan

taken into credit, u have to use the iphone & pay the contract full 24 month

then u'll save RM2++

Don't trust DiGi.

My EDGE was disabled for years, then one day DiGi/Simcard/Apple(or whoever) decided to send an update to my iP 3GS. The update activates my EDGE without me notice and gave me a bill shock of >9000. DiGi wouldn't refund. Excuse: "Apple's fault, they activate wan, so padan muka we get free money huhu nothing you can do." I'm sure some of you experienced this before right?
*
errr shouldnt digi send u a sms that ur current usage exceeded ur credit limit!?

so high ar digi's credit limit

up to RM9,000

I don't know why people use Smart Phone like iPhone without data plan with service provider?
*
coz for those ppl, wifi access is available everywhere (at their work place & place they usually hangs out)

except when u driving u car la (which is absurd to surf the net while driving)

so, its kinda waste to subscribe data plan with service provider

QUOTE(danieloo @ Aug 2 2010, 11:55 AM)
iPhone 4, yah...I know & I'm waiting. But once iPhone 4 launched, 3Gs no more to offer, then it's a waste.
The reason is iPhone 4 uses Micro Sim. It's trouble if you want to switch to use other phone.
* I wonder if there is a sim card holder to extend to normal size?
*
once iPhone 4 launched, 3GS will still be available

but only for 8GB capacity

16GB & 32GB will be replaced by iPhone 4

*
nope, just pay the plan accordingly

u'll get the unlimited internet & those free calls + sms

no need to subscribe any internet package

Any perks for other users (Maxis/Celcom) to switch to iDigi?

Anyways, I am planning to quit my current maxis iValue 1 plan (which is actually maturing  in a few days) and go for iDigi 88.

Unsure about the need to go for iphone 4 though.
*
benefits u might consider after switching to iDigi..

unlimited internet access

free sms & mms to all network (unlike maxis = maxis to maxis only)

lowest monthly fee - rm63

things to consider..

digi 3g coverage on ur area

24 months contract plan

if u dont want the iphone 4, u can sell it off at our garage sales section

pretty sure lotsa ppl willing to buy yours with reasonable priced that is biggrin.gif

Many thanks on your insights. You've graciously highlighted all the things that's urging to make the change.

I guess I can live with the coverage.

I wonder if Digi would launch any marketing tactics (e.g give rebates/lower iphone prices) to attract users with other carriers to make the smarter choice (all pun intended).
*
welcome

yup, digi does make promotion

http://www.digi.com.my/iphone/promo_carnival.html

either u trade-in any phone with any condition (a working phone i assumed)

or port-in ur number

both rebate is rm100 each, but u can only take either 1, cant both (trade-in OR MNP)

the rm100 savings will be given in the form of a rebate in your second postpaid bill in November, provided the customer successfully completes the port-in to DiGi

best thing is customers that choose to port-in will be given their iPhone 4 immediately on the same day

btw, this promotion only available on 25 & 26 Sept (today & 2moro only) sweat.gif

i just got the iphone 4 from Digi and after inserting the microSIM i don't get any signal..called the Digi SC and they said that they haven't keyed in my number for the iDigi88 plan..anyone having this problem??
*
meaning ur number havent been activated at digi system

should be clear few hours or a day at most

wouldnt suprise me as there's probably thousands digi units sold nationwide

thousand units sold, thousands new number to activate

just give them time, i will be activated

why would ppl choose digi plan yet even though they know maxis plan is cheaper than digi atm...is 1gb really insufficient for data???
*
data aint the only concern here

SMS limitation = maxis to maxis only! doh.gif

with MNP implemented

i can never tell the number that i'm SMS-ing is a maxis number, even its a 012 doh.gif
