Hi,
I am thinking of switching from my celcom to either Digi or Maxis. I am not a heavy voice user but i sms around 1000 sms per month. I would like to use the phone for internet (office internet blocked) and sms mostly. Any suggestions?
*
1k sms? =.='

You can get iDigi 138 for it. Maxis RM100 plan give free 200sms, digi give free 400sms @ RM93.

Beside that, you can add your frequent sms person to Friends and Family. Each SMS will cost 1 cent.

Why is everyone saying DiGi plan is better? Let pick on the cheapest packages for 32 GB to compare.

Digi's plan for 32GB iphone: you pay RM2490 for the phone, then pay RM58 per month, 2 years lock-in.

Maxis's plan for 32GB iphone: you pay RM1990 for the phone, then pay RM100 per month, 1 year lock-in.

What you should realise is that the RM500 you pay extra upfront for Digi is equivalent to RM42 per month for 1 year, which means the Digi plan is equivalent to:

Digi's plan for 32GB iphone: you pay RM1990 for the phone, then pay RM100 per month for first year, then RM58 thereafter, 2 years lock-in.

Comparing Maxis plan to Digi plan:

- Digi = 2 years lock-in, Maxis = 1 year lock-in
- Digi = 200 mins free calls, Maxis = 333 mins free calls
- Digi's SMS/MMS to all operators, Maxis only to internal
- Digi got a auto-cut off for Internet if you exceed so you don't get charged, but then i monitor my usage throughly and use wifi when i can.
- Both offer 0% installment plans (which mean you also lock-in to your credit cards.. do you want that?)

So Maxis's plan is clearly better. Lower lock-in is very important because it allow you to change your package to cheaper sooner (even change to different operator), or if you lost your phone, or if you want to upgrade to iphone5 next year. Using Maxis, I can always change my package after 1 year, and from experience newer packages are always better.

So am I missing something here??

You don't miss anything, for me, I'm using it as long-term investment, sad to say but i'm not as rich as you here sad.gif

Question on this T & C on MNP plan:

In the event that the required Device model is out of stock and it passes the seven (7) day period from the date of the successful port-in to DiGi's network, DiGi will proceed to convert the Customer to the DG50 plan.  Once the Customer is on the DG50 plan, the Customer is not allowed to change to other plans within ninety days (90) period from the time the Customer is converted to the DG50 plan. Please refer to http://www.digi.com.my/postpaid/digi_postp..._call_iheart.do for information on the DG50 rate plan.

What the hell is this? if they run out of stock, then we're screwed with idigi63 for the next 90 days?!!!  mad.gif

I got this fro DiGi staff, once you MNP your number, an iPhone will be reserved for you.

Jus wanna ask...if i bought the ip4 plan then i used it with another hp such as nokia...can or not???or they can detect which phone we used??help me...
*
No, I subscribed yesterday, and sold it off immediately, I am currently using the iPlan on my N97. You don't say, nobody know, nobody care tongue.gif

Anyway, they force me to activate the iPhone 4 on the spot using my own microsim first, managed to get someone microsim for activation, so I do not need to break my simcard into microsim.

So make sure you have someone that have digi microsim for activation before you go, if not, you gotta buy another simcard yourself.

if i buy prepaid simcard can aa???
*
No lol, they will give you new postpaid simcard that can be break into normal or microsim directly.

So, if you not going to use it on iphone, you will waste the micro sim, or you can use tape to tape it back into normal simcard size.
