nb freq would be d only thing stand in ya way for higher clock since ht link freq and others can be lowered. there's nothing much can be done coz as long as u can't adjust nb freq, u'll always stuck there. u can try BAR Edit to lower down nb freq multi in windows thou provided ur able to make it to ya desktop at least. i was lucky enuf to have a decent oc back then, d chip managed a 285htt on abit ax78, ss here:

as for which ram setting is better, i always use memtest (dos), check d memory session, d higher d better. this is not 100% accurate as pro mostly use windows based mem bandwidth benchies like sandra, evereset & others...

790fx still decent enuf to run a thuban, even on ddr2 platform so dun be too disheartened bro. older not necessarily means more inferior... unless ur comparin to chiv + geil ultra...

a ss + full specs on critical components will definitely help ppl to help u better. other voltages + temps are important too especially high clocks are involved.

tighter timing is always better but at initial stage it's better to loosen 'em a 'lil while ur explorin d max capable freq (be it ram/chip). i'd say cas7 still decent for amd setup... 8 is ok while 9 is abit lax to my likin... but then, that's just me... diff ppl diff taste...

i tell u bro, it's d ram that's hinderin d chip mileage, but worry not, d ram is comin, collectin later @ 1pm...

highly unlikely thou coz there's not much a poor propus can do w/ its inferior imc if compared to thuban.

slightly higher is possible, but dun give too much hope as propus can't do a thuban, at least under my hands of noob.

not any bro, infact i just plug & play w/o resetin d bios... accidentally put 19xx @ 7-8-7 during 1st boot, able to make it to memtest but once test #5 loaded then jammed... i should have loan a thuban but i dun think ppl are kind enuf to rent me again, some more i dun think i have d $$$ to pay d rental should there is some one willin to rent me his chip.

used to own d same batch, decent but too bad i didn't have a premium board to bring it further. max was prime stable @ 3.9GHz, benchable @ 4.1GHz (sp 32m stable @ single thread).

it really depends, u really need to try it out yaself. most commonly used by me are 0, +4, +2, -2 & -4...

a 'lil update for abg otromen, prime failed after 1 hour + last nite, this is d latest... 3~4hr blend test stable, should be ok for 24/7...



tryin 1820 now... will update after few hours (should it not fail).

yes, there's no way for pre-thuban chips to do > 1k prime stable while it's doable on thubans. no luck, any tighter for trcd we need hypers which no longer in production from what i heard & hyper expensive.

sis, that would be too much to ask for from my fren's poor propus... even gskill flare 2k @ 7-9-7-24 (optimized for amd) managed a 1840 @ 7-8-7-22. i'm dead sure they can fare better under ya hands thou.

i dun consider these as extreme, but they were what i managed when i rented a thuban which seemed pretty decent to me...
