I'm using a motorola milestone XT720 as well.. just got mine last night..
i believe the cpu speed is underclocked to 550Mhz to preserve battery life.. hopefully along with the next FW upgrade they will clock it back to 720Mhz.

QUOTE(~tera~ @ Jul 20 2010, 01:53 AM) says up to 720Mhz.. seems like moto hasnt make up their mind on what speed to run it at.. but even at the current 550Mhz, i think it is good enough already.. but more speed is always welcomed..

i hope moto fix the image quality issue with the next ROM update... the quality is really like shit.. i think my ancient N95 takes better photo @ 5MP.. the photos from XT720 is simply too noisy.. and soft..

QUOTE(khalpowers @ Jul 22 2010, 12:45 PM) U sure ar bro...hehe ...bcoz tha seller want 2 swap this evening maa... knowing that all new products will have some kinda bugs, i would say the hardware has great potential, and there are definitely still roooooms for improvements in the ROM, i'm seeing some bugs here and there, but nothing major.. might have to watch the battery though.. i had mine running HSDPA/Wifi alternately when it's available all day long, and screen set to dimmest, and it's only good enough for a day-long of abuse.. so if u're not able to charge your phone on a daily basis, make sure u cut down the battery usage.. and also the confusion about UK set having 512mb of ram is over.. it's official in UK site, 512mb of rom, 256mb of ram, and it is running @ only 550Mhz for now.. so there is only ONE XT720, no UK set, no Asia set, no Singapore set. all same.. http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/GB-EN/Co...XT720-GB-EN.altThis post has been edited by kevin613: Jul 22 2010, 12:54 PM

QUOTE(Borsch Soup @ Jul 24 2010, 09:10 PM) Funny the Singapore site says got free Free Docking station, HDMI cable & Leather case. And also their speed is... 720MHz *** We have received many e-mails asking us to verify the CPU speed below. We confirm that the CPU speed is 720MHz. Thanks. *** I think I better wait first. Ask them to show u screenshot first..

QUOTE(sanosizo @ Jul 24 2010, 11:51 PM) If that's true then all starhub xt720 owners must return back their phones because it's wrongly clocked at 550. Perhaps can sue them as well for selling wrongly clocked phones? I think its intentionally clocked @ 550mhz to conserve batt.. waste of time if u wanna try suing them..

I've attached the original milestone screen protector, seems to fit nicely covering the screen, and the hole for speaker is exactly the same.. but it is not large enough to cover the mirror-like surface on the edges.. works much better with a matt surface.. the screen is really a finger print magnet..

found a perfect solution to solve the crappy camera.. apparently the limitation is in the default camera app, it doesnt allow you to control the JPG compression..
go get Camera 360 from android market, and set the image quality to 100%, the image size will jump drastically from 1+MB per photo to 4+MB per photo, and you will see the image quality go up on the same time as well... but the trade off is it will take slightly longer to write the photo to your SD card, so dont quite the app immediately after snapping or you will end up with half-saved photo.. and also the Camera360 is not bug free, saw lots of typo, and some of the settings dont work as they say, but heck, small trade-off for big image quality improvement, i'll say YES!!

QUOTE(cloud8318 @ Jul 29 2010, 01:17 AM) so the XT720 from starhub SG, is 720mhz or 550mhz, seem like it have two different model, confuse :star: only 1 model lah... the processor is capable of 720mhz, but its clocked @ 550mhz now.. go check in moto products page lah.. I think the confusion is because moto release the news before spec is finalized.. so news has 1 spec and actual product has another set. .

if you increase the clockspeed, then expect the battery life to be shorter.. heard of the original milestone going beyond 1Ghz, so i think the XT720 should have the same potential too.. but whether it's necessary, different story lah...

QUOTE(choonwai11 @ Jul 29 2010, 11:55 AM) agreed on the battery life thing, but compare to my frs HTC desire which running at 1Ghz, my milestone xt720 battery life is just comparable to his desire. In my opinion, xt720 should have longer battery life since it running at 550mhz.... but as i mention, the speed of xt720 is still not annoying me, so no complain. i charge my phone everynight, so as long as battery life can last me from morning until night, i can accept. conclusion, xt720 a great phone foe me........yeah!!! Added on July 29, 2010, 12:02 pmyes agreed, go to singapore, buy from othes ppl, or even some shop selling Starhub set without contract with cheap price, normally range from SGD550~600. but this shop normally wouldnt do warranty claim for you for free, you need to go direct to motorla SC in spore to warranty / software upgrade urself. Software upgrade is FOTA..
