Hey, i'm using Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, and i'm kinda sien/bored of KIS already, cause it takes long time to update, and always give you useless warnings (badstuffs when gaming) also, after having my fresh new windows 7, ever since i installed KIS the startup time increased. So can anyone give me recommendations for an antivirus that doesnt slows down your startup time or gaming. Thanks

Just use avira, settle.
Heck if you know what you're doing on the internet, you don't need one either. |

I recommend Avast! Antivirus.... less false positive detection, have behavior control and gaming mode which not interrupt with notification while playing...!

Right now I'm thinking about switching to paid version of AV...rite now using Avast! Pro 4.8 which had done a good job so far for me ( have used it for 3 years ) - also considering to update it into Ver. 5 since it keep asking me to update it.
So far I'm only thinks about Kaspersky...what's the diff between KIS and the ordinary KAV 2010? And what is the pros and cons about it tho bcoz from what i've heard, it slows down the system a bit and take a lot of memories... |

So far it has been doing a great job for me. For more info on CIS 4.0, pleast visit this link: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1471568 |

I dont too like Avira.. lol, i always thought of it as noob xD I have been using Bitdefender Antivirus for 3 years and later on Bitdefender Internet Security for 2 years or so until early 2010. To me, it is one of the best Internet Security Suite but it is not that light on CPU. But I stop using it when COMODO Internet Security 4.0 (CIS 4) available. CIS 4 is a free full-featured Internet Security Suite. Refer here for more info: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1471568This post has been edited by JJKTP: Jul 6 2010, 01:06 AM |

Best antivirus 2010 at Q1 and Q2 in virus bulletin for high detection rate for trojans, not malwares, is Kaspersky. Archived >85% of million of trojans in the world, but false detection rate for Kaspersky is quite high too. But better than those "lap sap" av such that avira , panda , norman , mcafee , pctools , drweb , norton .....

Several experience before I changed to this NOD32 Anti Virus 1) Bit Defender- light weight but very complicated 2) Norton- heavy.. lots of unneeded item 3) Panda- Very heavy.. until hang my p.c 4) Sophos- stupid AV, delete the windows system file to remove the virus 5) Kaspersky- Quite ok at first.. until the new version come up, getting to worst 6) Avira- Free.. but damn annoying pop up 7) Avast- Free.. quite ok.. but cannot detect several virus in my p.c Sorry.. this my experience during years 2007-2009 .. bcoz that time still searching for the best AV for me.. Now already found it.. |

QUOTE(daniwc @ Jul 7 2010, 11:38 AM) It doesn't provide real-time protection like any other AV.. The paid version of MalwareBytes' provides real-time protection but it was made to be used with a real-time AV..MalwareBytes' speciality is the detection and removal of certain stubborn malwares/trojans/rootkits that the real-time AV misses/unable to remove. I recommend you to use Microsoft Security Essentials which is very fast, easy to use and efficient. You can combine it with malware blockers such as Malwarebytes and Superantispyware.

I'm using bitdefender AV 2011 since I got the key for free. It using less resource than previous version. Lots of improvement made in version 2011 compare to version 2010.
I'm using it on Win 7 pro with 2gb ram (1.75gb usable) & it didn't slow down my system. Why don't you just "test drive" a few antivirus yourself & decide which one the best for for computer. |

Thanks Kaspersky is still considered quite lightweight in my opinion and most PCs would still be able to support it without any hiccups. Even my netbook runs smoothly and still fast with KIS 2011. Perhaps KIS has to scan many files on your computer thus causing some performance degradation due to increased activity. For the warnings, make full use of the gaming mode and you should do fine. |
