Yes they do. In fact I believe most insurance companies provide both full time and part time agent positions(I'm assuming that you are talking about agent and not office staff).

1) What is the procedure to become an Insurance Agent?

- You must get recruit from any agency from different company.Like Prudential, GE, AIA or others.
- You need study and get the exam paper for PCE and CEILI from MII to let you have a license to buy insurance products as LIFE and Inverstment.
- You need complete the CPD hours in every year once became agent because this is compulsory program for every agency.

2) How many companies an Insurance Agent sign with?

- one only.

3) What is the commission rate?

- Each insurance have different commision rate. But every insurance agents will get the commission for every premium. If you get a high premium from big client, you will get more commision.

4) What is General Insurance and Life Insurance? Can I sit for both or either one only?

- General Insurance not so famous in malaysia market because its old tradisional insurance and more focus in assets.
- Sell more life and investment insurance because now more people need it, espcially the investment plan.

5) Which insurance company is best for it's policies and claiming

- Every insurance have different policies and claiming procedure . Its so hard to define which company good.

To register for the exam, go to the Malaysian Insurance Institute (Jalan Duta or Sime Darby Building if in KL). Go in person. Remember to bring a photocopy of your SPM cert! Bring your IC. Bring RM80. The ebook can be downloaded from mii's website at www.insurance.com.my. It's a zip/pdf file. The password is printed on the paper they give you after you register. If you want a peek, pm me for the password. smile.gif If you want, you can buy the same physical book. IIRC it is RM30.

The book is 400 pages! 30 chapters, 10 chapters each for parts A, B, and C. There are 10-12 questions at the end of each chapter for you to test with. It IS easy. I procrastinated until the last minute and only started reading the book and trying out the test on the final day before my exam. And there was still enough time to finish the 20 chapters relevant to me. smile.gif It's possible to go through the book at about 10-30 minutes per chapter without rushing (except for the 2 gigantic chapters, most were quite short).

Now, for my question. After I pass the test, they tell me to wait 30 days before I can collect my cert. Now what? How do I get myself attached to an insurance company? Do I have to wait for the cert to come out first? Anyone has any idea of which company I should approach? (Motor and general non-life).

There are many training programs and courses specifically designed to train people on how to become an insurance agent.

They teach about various policies, their pricing and benefits. However it is also vital to learn about how to use insurance apps as it simplifies so many daily work activities.

Install MintPro in your Smartphone and become more productive in the work place, which will increase your earnings manifold.
