QUOTE(mattemily_85 @ Dec 17 2010, 05:12 PM) maybe lah.... btw in the cage where the joeys being eaten, how many sg in it? and why does the other single female be separated?Hurm....what i know from my friend is,there is just another single female glider where place beside this pairing cage which just a feet gap. I had read few articles in glider forum when a female felt stress also wont turn into cannibal killing joey worst to worst also just reject only. Just as normal routine food feeding. He say this is their 1st joey so didn't handle or touch before (1st time had joey by the female) Could it cause by the female cage which put beside the cage? ya bro...but my friend want to know the root cause so wanna reduce/prevent this tragedy happen again. |

QUOTE(mattemily_85 @ Dec 17 2010, 09:32 PM) the joey been eaten inside the cage. I guess the mother got threaten by sg next cage due differ smell, so if the newborn joey is sick or weak mother will eventually kill them as to prevent other predator approach oso protect her colony.only female and male inside the cage. the single female separated due to young and waiting for another candidate to make pairing. ya rite..... |

QUOTE(seed80 @ Dec 22 2010, 12:34 PM) Guys/gals, i'm a new owner of a 2mth old joey, need some advice. dude just check out this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GoY2ySD6pY, i try it by myself and it works for my first joey for only 3 days (tips is u must not be scared haha)...for the bonding pouch, u just try to put outside other thing tat can make the joey hide when scare like sleep pouch or watsover n just put only those bonding pouch. so by doing tat whenever the joey scare they will just go inside the bonding pouch instead. n for diet the hpw is a staple diet which are given everyday with mixed sum fruit like apple, berrys. and gliderade can be use as treat. tats is wat im feed my joey which all fatty haha...these are the steps i'm taking, i really appreciate any feedback from all the sifus here, especially if there's anything i'm not doing correctly. today is day 4 in her new home. her name is Chitty day 1-day3: I left her in the cage, only putting my hand in to fill her feeding tray every night. but i do sit by the cage and talk to her, try to bring my hand close to her (outside the cage) for her to sniff.. She is very pouch protective, but if she is out of her cage she looks at me and tries to approach my hand only to run away from it when she gets near.. I cover the cage with my used t-shirt so that she would get used to my smell.. today is day 4, i'm thinking of taking her and putting her in the bonding pouch. my question is, since if i reach out to her in the cage, she would run away, what is the best way of getting her to go into the pouch? i dont want to chase her around the cage and scare her.. how do i do it? jus put a fleece on her and catch her? my next question is regarding diet: I'm feeding her daily wit fruits (apple, jambu air, etc) and twice weekly instant HPW and gliderade. Is this adequate? If this is not proper how should I change/improve the diet? thanks for your feedback. appreciated |

QUOTE(seed80 @ Dec 22 2010, 01:27 PM) woahhh..dragorc, thanks so much! that vid is cool..i will go back from work and try to hold her like that..hope she falls asleep in my hand too! haha... have to learn a lot from that glidervet haha welcme, but once again never too scare coz the joey will try their best to get a rid of u, but u must must not try to scold or berkasar with them ok. hmm i never use instant one so dunno how to measure. BTW if u got freezer in ur home u can just use the non-instant wan coz a lot easier n per glider u can give one teaspoon+chop of fruit. n if u got many glider u can add more la.regarding HPW: i'm using the instant HPW and if i follow the instruction on the packet it says: 2spoons HPW + 4spoons honey + 6 sppons water. is this how u prepare your HPW too? |

regarding those technique,, dont expect the joey will calm instantly as u say sleep in ur hand right, coz differnt sg got differ behaviour so it will get for 5 days, a week, 2 weeks even a month. so dont eva try or push so hard. this technique i guess as to make the joeys to recognized ur smell oso feel safe. just patient n do with love.
so tis is my new adopt sg cheers... |

QUOTE(me13nace @ Dec 26 2010, 12:29 AM) As for now, never heard of anyone yet.... but I do know someone who has a friend who will be helping him buy albino from US... just the matter of timing, I think. Glad the male sg came back, i tink mybe during out on the fly tat male tink twice on getting away, yeah who gonna feed him hpw and all fresh fruit stuff haha....owh tats is called bond miracle, the owner get his the best present don u tink Oh, anyway... got a Christmas story to tell today. Got a glider owner in Pahang. His male glider escaped from the cage outside on 24th December night. He was so sad he cannot find the glider after that. He told me and all I can do was to relate my own gliders' escape (which they never return) to him. Well, all the escape stories i know till now also ended with 'no body was found, lost forever' kinda ending... Then tonight at 12 am on 26th December, while we were chatting, he suddenly told me his male glider is back!!! We were like "Wow!" It's like a post-Christmas miracle!!! Hahaha! He said his instincts told him that the female (male's partner) inside the cage is calling him back, which I think is logical since he had them for 2 years and sure bonded well. But really wow coz the cage was placed outside the house and anything could happen to the poor guy who ran out the night before. But luckily, very very lucky he managed to find his way back listening to his partner's voice. ^^ So... I guess miracles do happen. So, wish Malaysia to have albino, leucistic, mosaic, platinum and other colours of sugar glider soon!!! |
