If wan budget portrait lens, can get 55-200mm, my friend is using that for portraits, although not as dreamy as f2.8 but better than your kit lens. If the range is too far for you, maybe 50mm f1.4 or 50mm f1.8..
Too bad the 85mms are AF-D.

haiz... sibeh sien la. don't have 50mm at the moment.. next year only buy a better gear to get 50mm. currently using 70-300mm(small bazooka only)
