Is there a chance that this selling could be due to short selling in US?
*
Yes, there is one of the reason. The panicking is just like the 2008 crash. Everyone start selling and run for gold.
Bear in mind that if 10,000 defense is broken, even short-selling will be halt by certain brokers.

LVS
Lower highs forming for LVS as well: 36, 37.50, 38.80, 39.90
Pretty fast mover on this one. Seems to be performing better than Dow and SP500
I'm getting ready to buy more on pull back. Potential upside to 48/50 (Q2 earnings - beaten all estimates),
earnings from Macau and Singapore continues to excel here.  laugh.gif
*
Between AAPL and LVS, for the same cash, my bet is on LVS.
It reaches the low of 36 during the crisis few days back. Still not attractive to me at today's price.
Of 8/8 until today 12/8, LVS did an impressive run +$7 or 20%

Jul 26, 2011 Q2 2011 Earnings Release
Next release will be around end October

Yes, LVS made a pretty good run from the low of 36 on Monday.  $36 scored the double bottom low.
So, one got to take the opportunity to buy.  LVS @ $44, it is still ok to buy as long you believe market will get back above
the SP 1250 level by year end. LVS should be at $50+ by now if not for the market downturn just right after its impressive earnings.

US market will be going another round of sell-off, based on the chatter in the money market. The special "DEBT CLEANER" team are looking forward cut in trillion dollar before Thanksgiving. Can they do it? shakehead.gif

UP 15,900% Now that HOLY MOLY!!!    drool.gif
GOOG investors aren't happy about them buying up MMI. $12.5 bln out the door.
In the coming weeks, let's watch MSFT. They got the cash to gobble up either RIMM or NOK.
Both RIMM and NOK may be speculative buy at this time, but I wouldn't hold MSFT shares at this time.
*
Both RIMM and NOK did their movement yesterday.

Warren Buffet is buying more Wells Fargo since he said its cheap.

For me, BAC holds better perspective than C at this juncture. Buy BAC @ 6.00 for long term.

Not at this level..stay long or pull money to stay at sidelines for more opportunity.

US market moving up.. inflation higher (Core PPI).

Oil, copper, commodities,.. going up.

DELL - major disappointment in earnings and outlook. People buying smartphones and iPADs but not new computers or laptops. Clear sign that the iPAD (and Tablets) are taking over.
*
Yes, no shorting, just go long especially on commodities. The party is back.

DELL report card does not look good. HPQ will be next with similar trend.

Guess the end of home based desk computing is dying a slow death. Still, most computers are in corporate environment, so the growth will be slow.

Hot from oven

EK +25%, off market +22cts to 2.91 or another 8% to make the best big cap PENNY stock move since crash

and followed closely by CLWR adding 50cts or 27% to 2.33, making it 2nd best big cap penny move.

Lagging behind in the same cluster is S and SIRI.

HP is a goner for the decade. They are doing a revamp like IBM did during the dot com bubble years. I'm not sure if they are able to emulate the strategy.
*
Live yesterday over Bloomberg : HP to exit retail PC business due to stiff competition of tablet market.
As I put on this thread 3 days back, the PC industry is dying.

Left corporate clients only. As what Honglun's reply - yes, they will emulate IBM.

QUOTE(danmooncake @ Aug 20 2011, 12:00 AM)
Good luck with that.. even if HPQ now wants to do enterprise software services, they're probably years behind.

HPQ stock price been a P.O.S since last year. Bought it last year at $40.. dump $43. Made a meager few hundreds.
very poor performance despite slightly better earnings. Then, Q4, Q1, and Q3 came.. it becoming worst and worst after the new CEO took over.

Stay away from HPQ for now until they got a good results.  On the mobile side, why would anymore want to buy that HP tablet (WebOS) made from the old Palm days anyway?  Nowadays, it is Android or iOS tablets. Even MSFT can't compete.

Now, it is either AAPL or GOOG that rules the tech giant space.

GOOG - realized that they have to acquire hardware maker like MMI to have a complete vertical market. Made no money from Google software except for ads. Will have to see what GOOG plan is. It better be good.

AAPL - (thank goodness for S.Jobs visionary) continues to pummel ahead with new products. iPhone5 (to be released in Oct) and next iPAD3 (going to the factories now, speculate to be available next Feb/March 2012).
*
AAPL is king for now. Someday somehow some other company will be the King. Its cyclical in business world. One can't be on TOP forever.
GOOG is seen as a direct competitor for AAPL. Samsung is 2nd behind AAPL in sales of tablet/smart phones. With Galaxy Tab hitting the shores worldwide, no doubt Jobs' eggs are shaking hard. biggrin.gif

Long GOOG TP 700
