Let me help you , based on broader market, volume/liquidity.

SPY - mirror Standard and Poor 500
GLD - Gold
SLV - Silver
XLF - Financial sector

Thanks again.
Looking at price history of SPY and XLF. Hmm, hard to make a decision.
Is buying ETFs as simple a decision as just buy and wait for market/index to recover?

I would suggest that you find distressed stocks for sale to wait for their recovery as it would be a much enterprising option rather than buying broad based ETFs. An example, like BP dropping to more than 50% of its value during the Gulf spill crisis.

Market about to take profits off the table tonight and pull back a bit before Opex this Friday.

I'm closing out on my AAPL Dec calls... up 12% from last month. Seems like AAPL seems to be my stock
for year. Looking forward to see AAPL touch $400 by next year. biggrin.gif

Personally, I'm thinking they're driving up the index to prep the holders for slaughter after Dec 31st tax sale.
My plan is to cash out my longs while I'm ahead and wait until after the new year dips to buy.

Rumors again that China will raise 0.25% before year end to cool off their market.

Most stocks rebounded last hour or so. NFLX from 175 to 179 and others having similar patterns.

Huh?

From your words, I can assume that you bought it via 3rd party (local securities firm)

I have 2 live trading accounts. 1. MB Trading for short to medium term. 2. J2Trade - day trade account (cheaper rate $2.50)

I buy via DBS Vickers and the fees is $29/transaction. However the weird thing is when I queue "C" like 10 lots then the fees will be $29 x 10 = $290 mad.gif

Where do you open the MB Trading a/c? Can be done locally here? OR via online?

For Options, it does cost $xx/lot or contracts plus standard transaction fee. nod.gif

Psst.. I found that for low volume trade, choosing per share rate is cheaper for MB Trading.
I trade in blocks of 100s and they only charge me $1 per transaction for each buys for each 100 shrs.
But, if you've a 1000 shrs to sell, yes, that's $10.

$1 per transaction per 100shrs is cost effective for day trading. brows.gif

bros,

yes, it's like a daylight robbery, so that's reason the stock I purchased need to hold longer or else unable to recover back my costs.

The transaction they charge is per lot which I think is ridiculous. Like if I queue like 10,000 shares to purchase, they should charge me based on per transaction which is $29/transaction, not $29 x 10 = $290 mad.gif

Well, I guess I need to seek for the options by Zaman bro to get cheaper trading, so can have faster turnaround for better margins.

I thought there's minimum fees of $4.95 even if you bought 100 shares?

I'm in with ATML. Where is yours?

I think there is a small confusion.

Choose : MBTR - Flat Rate
# 00 shares = $4.95
# 1,000 shares = $4.95
# 5,000 shares = $4.95
# 10,000 shares = $4.95

I NEVER goes beyond 5,000.

no worries, can try 2nd broker :

https://accounts.just2trade.com/Application_Step1.aspx

Account type : choose Margin better - will charge u about 9% per trading day on the "Overdraft"

Say : your cash 5,000 USD, suddenly u bought 1,500 of C @ 4.50 = 6,750. So u pinjam 1,750$. That is chargeable..
