want to ask you all, now I got steam and steam games install in winxp old pc. I going to get new pc and install win 7 64 bits. Is it ok to copy steamapp folder to new PC. Those game can run? Or I need to redownload all the game again in new pc?

Hi, currently just get my new pc with win7 64 bits. I had copy the whole steam folder and paste in new pc's harddisk.
(First I download 1.5Mb steam client and install in new pc then only copy and replace whole steam folder from old pc to new pc's steam folder.
Later I found out that my teamfortress still need redownload about 3GB of update patch(which I already finished download in 28th August in old pc and then only transfer whole to new pc in 29th august.)

Anyone can tell me what is the problem? I dun want to redownload 3GB patch again.
or I should use steam backup content for team fortress then restore back to new pc? but my old pc dun even have 10 gb space for that.

At start I already choose path as d:\steam\
so this still cannot solve it

yah, I tried this already, it show verify ok but dunno why still download the latest 28 aug patch for TF2.

I click play then it start showing download update.

ok , finally I recopy again the steamapps and now it works. I think earlier time maybe 1 of the file is corrupt.

bad news, that day I told you all that after I transfer to new PC, my tf2 need to update 3gb file (I suspect patch on 28 Aug although I already update in old PC and copy the whole steamapps to new PC). Then monday after I recopy the file, I able to play Tf2 without downloading new patch.
Yesterday it force me to download 3GB again. Anyone know what is the problem?

ok, cos earlier time when this happen, I recopy steamapps folder from old pc to new pc and it work on Monday. Just dunno why Wednesday suddenly cannot work anymore and need to redownload 3GB patch.

I want to ask you all, when in my new PC, my steam cannot update one? keep stuck at certain percentage. I tried Deimos files in first page. It able to work. Anyone know what files is missing and why deimos one can work?

always got problem in upgrade.

At earlier thread, about 28 Aug, I get new PC and start transfer all steam file to new pc. That time I forced to update team fortress, but I recopy again from old pc to new pc then team fortress 2 no need to update anymore. Then next time when I start steam, it stuck at steam client update. Tried many time also cannot work, then I download deimos link and finally it able to work.
After that although I have latest TF2 file in that folder(I had move it to correct folder after using deimos file into current steam path) but it force me to download about 3GB tf2 file again.
Then yesterday finally finished download and I able to play tf2. Now when I start steam, it got steam client update again and I stuck at client update.
Do I need to keep using deimos file for that? Suppose my current steam folder already have those deimos file at there.
I using win 7 64bit. Anything related to firewall or UAC or what?

Actually my old pc and new pc both using same connection(same line,same modem).
The different between new pc and old pc is old one use winxp(never face any upgrade problem after using steam for half year while new pc is using win 7 64 bit, keep facing update problem)
The client should set connect to Singapore server or Malaysia server?

This is new pc, I haven't install utorrent/ppstream or any downloader.
At here only got starcraft 2 and steam client plus those cpuid,hwmonitor and gpu-z only. No other software installed yet.
I only use win7 firewall and no anti virus yet.
Original win 7 home premium.
