Gonna to format my pc and upgrade to win 7 but afraid of losing my saved game .. any procedure to follow?

Speaking of Mafia 1 .. I still remember a few years ago, one of my classmate kicked out from the college because didn't reach 80% attendance ... sad, I'm the one who bought the game and he used my computer day and night just to play it . My role? More like a "cheerleader" (give him a support/ask him to show game skills) whenever I take a rest from study ... ~

So, the game is a very addictive one .. proven
