I know Blizz do that too about the "write something next to the CD-Key, take a picture and send it to us" kind of thing.

Good way to actually prove you own the stuff without having to find back receipts and stuff

Pretty quiet month since the end of the Summer Sales for Steam.

Not complaining, saving my wallet a bit smile.gif

Hum, you can try that hotshield tip some people mentioned (do a search).

Or try to grab the full updated Steam folder (without the common apps) from someone else, copy them in your own Steam folder and start again.
Steam can be notoriously hard to update after a new install.

Steam is already running in a different Windows usesr session.

What does that mean?

omg this is fking wasting my time. All my hundreds of dollars of games just went down the drain because of this stupid client

Added on August 15, 2010, 12:16 pm

My client is fully updated. No problem with that at all. It just wouldn't start. Always 'connecting to steam account'. Then the whole thing disappears. I tried Hotshield too. Didn't work.

Added on August 15, 2010, 12:24 pmcould it be due to that I pasted the steamapps folder into it? I got a backup of it from a wins7 x32bit machine. Now i'm running on wins7 x64bit
*
Hum, well I am not sure then, it could because of the backup yar, could be doing some check on the files in it taking a lots of time.
Did you try without the steamapps first?

Like move the whole steamapps/common somewhere else and try again.

Currently, there is a patch to disable the timecounter in Mafia 2 demo. Supposedly, I use this illegal patch. Will it affect my Mafia 2 purchase later ya? Im scared as it is tied to my Steam game which has many games already.. sad.gif
*
I don't see why it should, Mafia 2 is not even VAC enabled and even if it was, VAC does not care about single player mode.

Pretty sure there is nothing to be afraid by using this thing, just that it might not be good to speak about such thing on this forum smile.gif

Nothing wrong with Railworks really, it's for people who enjoy trains and simulation.
I don't own it or plan to own it personally and it sometimes pisses me off with their DLC spam in Steam but hey, to each its own.

But yar, Xmas sales might have some good stuff smile.gif

From what I read though Crossworld by itself contains the content of the two previous games now? (Vanilla + Princess)
So that offer kinda intrigued me really...

sure a good deal

No, what I meant is that if you buy Crossworld ALONE, it already has the content of the original King's Bounty from what I read.
So I didnt see the point to give the King's Bounty for free as an "offer".

That's what I read on the RPS review if I am not wrong

Ok, that was my bad, I re-found the RPS review and it's actually Armored Princess original campaign that seems to be included in Crossworld, not the original King's Bounty. Sorry about that, it was late and I didnt sleep much in the last week ^^

Review on RPS for anyone interested:

RPS Review of Crossworlds

So basically getting the offer Crossworlds + Kings's Bounty for free would make you get the whole 3 games in one bundle, pretty good deal I would say

Now I am just confused on the "requires Armored Princess to play" thing...

I think the version released by Steam doesn't include AP (Armored Princess). Just run through the Steam forum & read that those without AP will not be able to purchase Crossworlds. Quoting 1 of the comments in RPS:

Ha ok, thanks for the info, interesting way of doing things

I pay with debit card so yar the steam wallet is pretty useless for me too.
Since to topup the wallet you have to use any of the normal way you can do it so far, it won't provide much change really.

Just for people who used Edison or Deimos to topup a bit amount at one time, but then the money just sits there doing nothing until you have something to buy.
Or to play the change conversion but I don't think its really worth the deal at all, changes arent that big and with the amount we are dealing, you will "save" pennies

And then if your account got hacked, what is protecting your wallet? Something additional or nothing at all?

Wow it's like every few months MoW is on offer.

Very good game anyway, some good missions, direct control is fun and the Gold edition will keep you busy for a long time (especially since you can integrate the content from Face of War in it and there are dynamic campaign mods for MoW too)

Only note I would put is that the difficulty can be unforgiving, even on Easy.
Some defense missions made me sweat like I rarely did...

MoW, u guys might wanna think twice, its nothing like COH lol, as Gormaz was saying, the difficulty can be "unforgiving".

u nid manage soilder ammo, gun, helmet, medikit, equiment... and there is not a squad u r managing at least platoon to a batalion lol...

the game is very realism, that y it score so high. plus, its not just pick up ammo and shoot, u gotta match the gun with ammo otherwise wait mati..

For me, its too much micro managing
*
Yar, the difficulty is pretty high really, the 2nd (or first?) mission where you have to defend the Russian train station for X minutes went from:

- "lol, so many troops to defend, this is going to be easy, I roxx defense missions"

to

- "Zomg they sent like half the whole german army to take that train station or what?!"

to finish by

- "Leave goddamn train, leave NAO!"

I think there was 1 german tank starting to shoot the train when it finally ended....

You do not really need to micromanage so much all your soldiers really (except for the "Commando style" missions where you command only a few) but if you direct control a lots then yar, you need to pay attentions to each soldiers and scraping munitions from the fallen bodies can make or break your game.

Same as taking over enemies heavy weapons etc.

Sometimes just direct controlling 1-2 soldiers or a tank while leaving the rest to "normal rts controls" can be enough and much more efficient.

I think there might be a demo somewhere so I would suggest folks to try it first.

In comparison CoH is super easy game, but also way less realistic.
Still I find MoW to be very fun smile.gif

Assault squad gameplay sounded quite a bit different to me focusing more on the small scale missions with only commanding fewer men.
Kinda like some of the "commando" missions in MoW where you have only a handful of men and have to infiltrate enemies line.

That's one thing I liked about the MoW campaign, missions were pretty varied ranging from full scale defense, to attack of ennemy base or convois, then these small scale tactical infiltration.
The "almost fps jeep-driving mission" almost at the end of the Allied campaign was also super fun and very different way of using the game engine.

Same here, some games I did not really enjoy and have no intention to play again.

Wouldnt mind getting something in return even if I expect the buyback value to be very low.
