Hi Dr. here is further info regarding your Buffalo external hard disk issue from AC Ryan HQ:

If it is Playon!HD and Playon!HD Mini (1st Generation). It might be due to UDF partition on the Buffalo hard drive. This UDF partition is meant to store the bundled application from Buffalo such as encryption software or automatic backup data software. You can't delete this UDF partiton. Even if you successful remove the UDF partition, it would self-create again upon boot-up.

On Linux, this UDF partition is recognised as DVD-ROM. This issue also happens to Mac users when they are using Buffalo hard drive. It would automatic mount as DVD-ROM causing the system to freeze as the system thinks that it is a DVD-ROM and starts scanning for the DVD disc on our media players.

This issue would appear on firmware version v7.3.x.r4824 or any firmware that is based on the old SDK platform for Playon!HD and Playon!HD Mini as well as Playon!DVRHD.

From my understand, this issue has been resolved if the user is using v7.4.x.r2115 firmware release on Playon!HD or Playon!HD Mini.

For HD2 and Mini2, it should not have any issues as they are using the new SDK from Realtek.

I am using buffalo external hdd (bought 2 years ago) and POHD 1, what I did was to reformat the hdd into NTFS format and it plays perfectly without any issue. my POHD 1 is running on fw 4824.

fw 2115 is actually still beta and not very stable where many users complained in the POHD forum.

4824 is V7.3.x, latest is V7.4.x.

actually I also don't know all these things as I bought the buffalo external hdd much earlier. for some reasons which I cannot remember I reformatted the external hdd, and after I bought POHD 1 I have never faced any problems when playing the files directly from the external hdd.

My hd2 cannot detect my samsung 1.5tb hard drive. I am using the latest firmware. Anybody care to help. Already tried on off and put in and out still could nt detect sad.gif

Hi, is your hard disk ok? Sometimes even new unformatted hard disk also kaput. Pls test first. If hard disk ok, than may be it is HD2 problem. Pls send back to the retailer and ask them to double check ya.

Hi. need some help.

i noticed that mu subtitles suddenly disappeared. i had a couple mkv files which was showing subtitles without any srt but when i tried them again the subtitles were all gone.

i don't remember changing the files in any way and just thought that maybe someone tinkered with the settings.

Tried searching around but couldnt find the answer and hope that i can get the answer here.

subs in mkv files show up auto unless you set to non auto - check that setting.
if set to non-auto, can always press the subtitles button to activate it.
if you have tried all of that and can't get it back, that is very strange...

Sorry for the out dated info. I will replace with new models, HD2, mini2 and Essential. If u need to insert a hard disk inside the player, than go for HD2. But if u normally use external hard disk to player the movies, than go for mini2. But if u do not need streaming or network, stand alone is enough for u, strongly suggest PlayOn Essential: http://www.acryan.com/web/product/playonhdessential/

bro, wan ask throuble question here..

today i just finish download the movie " i'm number 4" with got rip with dts in mkv format.

when i throw into the playon playing in preview tab can play but after click enter to play show me no display no sound and after a while then will auto restart back to main menu? wat's the problem ? i was try using the mkvtool = mkvmerge to remux again also same problem..

my 73100 is intial factory firmware when bought, never update firmware before. so pls ask all sifu here wat the actual problem cause it? i no dare go to update the frimware worry it will brick it if i mistake do something.

try out other movie 1st or try download again the number 4 movie from different uploader..i have download this movie and it was ok oh my pohd2

what is your firmware version ? mine is using fw 4824 and can play the movie perfectly. I downloaded the version from NLUPPER.

Bro, pls update your POHD first. We hv tested with BLOW version and it work fine biggrin.gif , firmware v7.3.3r4824.
