So, after searching and reading almost all the forum, I've narrowed down my search to AC Ryan and xtremer... Leaning more towards acr smile.gif

Just need your suggestion, should I get the mini2 or the essential? On one hand, I don't need the Internet stuff but on the other, it might be nice to have... What do you think?

Thanks in advance. Hope to receive some opinions soon cause planning to get a set at PC Fair tomorrow smile.gif

Ps. Am planning to watch lots of mkv and 720 files ...
*
If stand alone unit, u can go for Essential. But if u want to play facebook and twitter, pls go for mini2. It depends on your budget, if possible, strongly recommend go for mini2 or HD2.

went to lowyat today..actually wanted to buy eaget M7/M9..but i cant find..ended up with Acryan Playon HD 2..waa, so happy

Good choice bcoz HD2 is using latest RT 1185, where eaget still uses 1073 and 1283, which cannot support facebook and twitter. Hope you bought from either C-zone or Viewnet ya.

One final question, is there any different between mini1 and mini2 in terms of power cable, remote, hdmi? If i get the mini2, can I just change the player only and reuse back all the wiring on my old mini1? Because I already arrange all the wiring nicely HUHUHU

Each set comes with all the accessories, so I would use the new power adaptor and remote (which is different); hdmi can use existing.

Hi Boxbuilder, thanks for the recommendations. Went to PC Fair today and got myself the Mini2! at a much better price than what was quoted to me in low yat! smile.gif next on my shopping list is a 2TB external Hard Drive to store all my movies and songs smile.gif

On a seperate note, can anyone please tell me, is the Mini2 able to read the external hard drive if i were to format it for Mac? this is because i noticed that if i format it to Mac, i cannot use on Windows and visa versa, so just wondering if its the same thing.

Thanks!

Mac format is FAT32, Windows normally is NTFS. Linux is EXT3. These 3 format is supported by mini2. But FAT32 can support file size up to 4GB only, if I am not mistaken. So, to enjoy HD movies with files more than 4GB, strongly suggest format in NTFS.

Hi all, I have a question. Is there any homebrew or custom firmware for the HD2 series yet?

Or is there any way to customise the Menu and links.

ok bros.....i am very new so going to ask stupid questions..sorry..

just got my flatscreen this afternoon...a gift...so no chance to ask dealer or electrical shop...

so to play mkv and watch on flatscreen, i need the playon HD.

now, all my mkv files is in my 2TB external HD drive (which i connect with my Imac and watch directly)

so now, what do i do with a flatscreen TV + 2TB external HD + Imac + an incoming ACR Playon?

So first, i assume i connect the ACRPlayon to TV via HDMI cable...

then? i connect the ACRPlayon to my Imac? and then i use the Imac as place where i move the mkv files from AcRayon and External HD?

sorry, i know stupid question..but hope can help! rclxub.gif rclxub.gif planning to go and buy a ACRPlay on tomorrow...

cheers notworthy.gif

Humm, I try to help here tongue.gif

1.U be getting A.C.Ryan as your upcoming media player (I suggest u get mini2). Unless your want a build-in hdd inside the player.
2.Transfer all your movies & musics to your external hdd using your imac
3.Connect your external hdd to media player and link (using hdmi cable) to your TV
4.While u watching your movies, u can still download your movies or musics using imac (Concurrent session)

So the outcome is :-
Tv + Media player + External hdd. That's it.
