I would prefer ext powered HDD anytime. HDD's can suck current big time from puny wall wart. I just don't want to risk all the hassle and trouble should the wall PSU get fried for no explanable reason. They're not bulletproof stuff you know.

Backup is and always will be most basic fundamental in IT tech. It'll be common thing to see many people havin a few, multiple or numerous HDD's for macam macam purposes. 1TB is now somewhat RM170+...can buy one every month after payday...hahahah!

How about you start from beginning (power off) connect both, switch on and see if both drives are present?

Finally connected the POHD to the hifi as a music source. NO way it perform to the level of my trusty old cd transport and DAC combination. From an audiophile sense, it really sounds not much more than a RM200 milo can box play all DVD player. This POHD probably is better appreciated for movie playback.
But then, this serves as a wonderful music jukebox.
My 2 sen opinion.

this product is good, max 4 bays for 2 TB HDD, mean you can max 8TB. only use 1 power cable and 1 USB connection, save mass cable.

RM399/- USB 3.0.

Technical specs 5Gbps, if your PC support USB 3.0. If not have to buy PCI-E card. Without card can use as normal USB 2.0 only.

If connect to POHD of course only USB 2.0.

DIY rack: On the cheap and obviously can be further improved. Use old ATX PSU to power them up. Connection with longer SATA cable to the POHD. Use one at a time lor..

I think advisable to get the Hotway USB 3.0 (RM399/-) + USB 3.0 PCI-E x1 card (about RM68/-). Copying your files within the 4x2TB drives and to and fro the PC HDD will be much faster than USB 2.0 interface.

Today, experimented with external DVD drive. But I've to mention my external is an older IDE type to USB model and mostly stored away unless I've something to do. The drive is a Liteon SOHW-1673S.
NO PROBLEM AT ALL using with my laptop or desktop, it'll read and play anything.
OK, now connect to POHD. Play DVD or any DVD, all OK.
Play Music CD (NOT pirate cd ah!..ORI..I only own ori) and its NOT OK. It judders, like something wrong with decoding and cannot play most tracks, sometime got sound, sometime no sound. ITS PERFECTLY OK if shifted to my laptop and plays all OK, like nothing wrong. Tried a few other discs.. SAME THING!. moreover hard to eject.
How leh?.. Any help? Firmware bug??
I'm going to try again soon, since it passed all DVD Drive diagnostics at the laptop.

This is a common problem face by using ODD as external due to DRM problem. The media player need licence to run the original CD.

This is weird, but then again this is first time experiencing such issue. So, can the problem be solved or not?
If it can't, this means its silly and perhaps we're better off with a budget play all DVD player that plays any disc without issue.
