Has anyone experimented with (an) ACRyan and Plex IPTV? I'm trying to get Plex to serve a http VLC stream (video/audio codec set by me - think of http://serverip:port/) via the IPTV plugin and a PlayonHD (yes, that ancient one).

So far I've tried a couple of different codecs, but it "seems" to crash my PlayonHD... black screen, doesn't respond to any button presses on remote (or on the PlayonHD) and requires a power off.

I just brought my old Playon!HD ACR-PV73100 out of "retirement" from the storeroom after more than 5 years (yes, I am a tech hoarder) after its successor "died" over the weekend. Managed to download and install firmware v7.4.3.r7317(Asian).

Is there a newer version than this? If so, can someone point me in the right direction for download or maybe email it to me (along with any earlier versions that I may need)?

I just drop Astro, but wife want to watch mandarine channel like Astro & I like NGC. Will go digital mall jalan jalan. Hopefully can get something good.

Sharing my experience.


DO NOT buy AC RYAN product. I used to own a PlayOn 3 Mini. It seems to be a nice product to me when I bought it. Solid casing/hardware, nice and not too laggy GUI for network browsing (not for internet), playing most files until...

I upgraded my firmware and it can't be booted anymore.

1. Firmware download from original website
2. Once firmware upgraded, it cannot be booted
3. Explain via email to support (support crap, reply after few days) and they explain hardware failure without hesitation
4. Asked me to send back the unit to them, support only in Singapore (Of cos i need to pay for the fix)

How can they assure it's hardware failure without seeing it?
Their support simply doesn't care?

Lesson learn. Just to share so that one can consider twice before buying

my pohd1, mini2... final firmwares (2012) are fine, still working today.

I was updating from r11110 to r11255 because some movies cannot be play. I just try my luck to upgrade to the latest hoping it can play more files. Which end up to be a disaster... Vomit blood talking to them via FB

My ACRyan Playon DVRHD gives error " Unknown Hardware, Software cant work!" How to solve this error? Sometime menu comes and player works perfectly but after switched off the unit there is no any guarantee that its gives menu screen or give above mentioned error.

Try to reinstall the firmware. My PlayON HD was completely dead, can't boot up. Then I found that I could download the firmware and reinstall it, and now it is running perfectly.

I am also using ACR DVR HD. Using it to watch movies as well record shows every now and then.
I suspect your HDD could be dying or having bad sectors. Try replace another 2TB HDD and format it with the software. Mine crash or freeze every now and then, but after replacing the drive its back to working properly again.

I've got my ip address, but it keep showing Network_congestion when i play Youtube
Facebook can't load at all...

it is still good for playback of old files.

new formats, new subs, online streaming, it can't do.

mind u, the video and audio quality for playback from this box is good.

some new android boxes can't give same quality.

either keep for playing old files or sell it.

there are people looking for this player - i sold both of mine earlier this year.
