i just bought my playon HD 3D, but i plug HDMI cable to my philip LED i cant get any sound even i try change setting in player eg audio change to HDMI auto, HDMI LPCM but same no sound ?

any one know how to solve it ?
*
direct hdmi connection to player should give audio, whether lpcm or passthru. play diff files, check for bad connection or if you had set tv to mute? try to plug in same hdmi with a dvd player to see if tv works fine. if nothing works, the only explanantion is that something is faulty with the player.

bro. need some help here. been using pohd mini2 for sometime.
now my collection of hd movies have grown to like 4nos of HDD.
3x 1TB and 1X2TB.
I tried to hook up a 4X USB Hub to enable me to connect all 4 simultaneously. I bought a A4 tech brand of USB hub.
Upon connecting to mini2, it cant detect all my hdd at all.
Direct plug in into mini2 usb port can work.
Please enlighten me how to overcome this.....
any particular brand for the USB hub?
*
not sure but i think mini2 cannot take a hub. this bit is not mentioned in the old manual that i have.

Hi sifus,
I would like to know where you guys get the movie file from ? Mkv ? Rmvb? This player can support so many file type. Is it possible to encode Dolby digital audio file into my downloaded movies from QVOD or online ? So that my home theater won't waste. Currently I watch rmvb use the coaxial and mute the HDMI from TV and my subwoofer cannot give correct and stable bass. I guess the audio encode not good enough. Maybe is just simple basic audio. Can I download it separately and encode it ?

Thanks.
*
where to get these files is not be to discussed openly in forum! best you talk to people you know and ask them to show you.

rmvb is low grade, you will never get good audio. rmvb is commonly used in asian tv series, unlikely there is any good audio track for such shows, except maybe a few mega budget ones.

hi, got a POHDmini2 2 months ago,
a terrific device, but i got a problem.
i`m playing my media files tru my NAS connected to router by wired LAN.
whole setup are connected on wired LAN.

Most of my files are .mkv, the player works like a charm!
but my .mp4 files, non playable.
i have tested the files with my laptop, desktop, files are ok, playable.
the MINI’s firmware is the latest as shown in AC RYAN product support page.

so, what give?

thanks in advance.
*
what message was displayed? "file type not supported"?

mp4 is a basic file, the player should have no problem with the vast majority of mp4 files but it is possible it can't deal with some very old and outdated versions.

unlikely anything to do yr lan.

My last question before getting this is.
After i setup everything via the media player i am able to  access my movies files thru my computer within the same network and play on the media player?

Is it smooth for movie files 4GB to 10GB above.

Really appreciate your reply and once again thank you so much.
*
this part, you need the media player to be connected to the nas, i.e. a network cable to yr router to access yr pc.

i have played with this acryan feature, here are some info:

. to use nas, first turn on samba in the acryan setup option
. unless u remove all security levels at the pc, acryan can access only the public folder on the pc, so need to place files there
. not about file size but speed rate. low grade files avi-mp4-480p via nas is fine. photos, mp3-flac music files ok. 720p dolby, it starts to jerk. 1080p dts, forget it.

i actually am not sure if the bottleneck is the acryan or my router. not pursuing this direction at this time.

so, like many others, i keep this feature usage to a minimum; usually play hd files direct on acryan.

Hi Guys,

Just bought a pohd, I tried putting in my 2TB seagate HDD with movie files but it seams that the pohd cannot detect it...I also tried it in my enclosure and still no luck. any idea how do i go about this?

thanks!
*
can pc read the seagate hdd?
can pohd read some other smaller drive?
if yes and yes, that means something not right about the seagate hdd compatibility probably due to formatting.

i remember long time ago, some reported acryan can't read buffalo hdds, something to do with the partitioning.
if you must, reformat the hdd at the pohd. that's bad news... wipe out files, take hours to reformat. not sure if this is the only way.

i have 2 units 2tb western digital ext hdd, both work fine with pohd and mini w/o doing anything.

If Play Half-SBS x264 mkv file should be no problem, just merge the picture with you 3D tv. (  Half-SBS x264 mostly are MVK file )

just curious, what is meant by "merge pic with 3dtv"? tq.

i have collected some sbs files, if and when i change to a 3dtv, will probably try it with the pohd.

Actually the Half-SBS x264 mkv file when you play by pohd mini or pohd mini 2, the picture is side by side or up and down show on TV, my samsung Smart 3D TV have a button 3D to choose merge side by side picture, up and down or 2D convert to 3D, means the 3D picture result under control by the Smart 3D TV. smile.gif

This Half-SBS x264 mkv file.

Hi all. Im using  ACR-PV73100 firmware version v9.5.3 r7317.
Recently when i browsed down 5-10 movies, then the unit crashed... Then, none of the buttons worked and the only way that i had to resolve the problem was disconnecting the power cable.

I suppose this is a known problem but anyway here is another one with the same problem. Can i downgrade the firmware as i found in the forum that downgrade the firmware will solve the issue, but the setting doesn't show the covers that we have in the folders of the movies. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
*
ACR-PV73100 firmware version v9.5.3 r7317.... strange... did you install wrong firmware?

according to acryan website and my own folder, 73100 is old/first model. for asian model, the last firmware is Firmware v7.4.3.r7317 - Asian Edition
http://acryan.com/sg/acr/support/ACR-PV73100/

howver, even for 7317, i had it good for a short while. then for some reason, not sure if it's due to ext hardisc or what, it gave so much trouble that i was forced to retreat to Firmware_PV73100_v7.4.3.r3966_Asian, the first firmware with the gui2. this one is stable, few problems but has 2 disbenefits - no hdd spin down, and screen saver wun work at pause but must "stop".

7317 works fine with the mini or mini2.

all said, my pohd is >3 yrs old. despite all the little troubles, i had much fun. great great buy overall. thumbup.gif

i never flash or upgrade it. actually i got this box for replacement after my asus o play prob, then sri computer replace this to me. ok i will try to downgrade it. err, can the firmware be downgraded? normally the firmware cannot be downgraded? thanks in advance and will let u know the outcome later. thanks
*
i see...

i m puzzled that the box came with v9.5.3 r7317 instead of official v7.4.3.r7317. come think of it, that v9.5 may be the beta version that never completed the tests, shelved officially.

firmware can be downgraded, just flash it as recommended.

quick tips for you when doing that:
. be sure you have the right version firmware
. read and follow instructions in full
. gui may be slow after installation - you can improve it by turning off "hdd scanning" and turning on "delete history" under settings.

icon_question.gif  what shud i do. How to downgrade the firmware? Plisss
*
i am surprised... i have flashed, sys update, upgrade, downgrade, a dozen times!

likely you did not follow procedure....?

make sure yr usb drive has the right "img" file at the first level of the drive.
read and follow flashing procedure correctly - switch off the mains, push on/off button and hold, on mains, do not release button until you see a message on the screen.
give it time, it can take 1-2 min for the reinstallation to complete.

now, i notice something...

Firmware v9.5.3.r7317 is for ACR-PV73700 Playon!HD2

this is the pohd2, not the old one 73100! so, pls check what model u hv.

if u just got it, it shud be pohd2 since pohd1 is 3 yrs old, shud not be available anymore.

if firmware 9.5.3.7137 does not work, you can only try this one Firmware v9.5.3.r3966, no other.

get it here:
http://acryan.com/sg/acr/support/ACR-PV73700/

3966 is a lot moe stable, imo. try flashing it with this one...

this is happened. anyone can help? hwaaaa
*
reasons...

1. the firmware file was not detected in the usb drive... becos it is within a folder, possible. must be "open" on first level of drive.

or likely...

2. yr pohd2 came with the latest 7317, failsafe procedure does not allow "updating" to older version. this is unlike pohd1.

but flashing should possible.

i would first try to flash to reinstall 7317. if it is still like before, flash it with 3966.

*** i just downloaded the 3966 for pohd2 and read the instructions. safe-mode flashing procedure is same as pohd1.

Ok now i manage to downgrade to 3966 successfully but still cannot browse the movie file if browsing under files manager-hdd-movie. It will stuck on blank screen. But if i browse straight under movies no problem. Before this no problem. Or my hdd showing the sign of kaput? Huhu
*
i think this is why...

when you flash to an older version, the settings go back to default.

so, check and reset under "settings". the problem u mention, quite sure it is due to the "disk scanning" on. turn that off, turn "delete history" on - you should get all in order under files manager but the "movies" part will not be updated or even functional.

the explanation is with scanning on, it takes a long time to scan the whole disk (depending how much it's there) but is for first time only. so long that u think it has hanged! so, either stop the scanning or let it scan and complete the job...

*
if you turned off the scan, turn on delete history, give it a minute, switch off and then on again, the files manager shud work.

one question... yr hdd - is it built into the pohd2 by the supplier?

or using an ext usb hdd? some brands of such are known to have certain reading problems.

Ok finally solved. I change the hdd from 1tb to 500gb. still not ok. then i notice if i open using movies- only after i browse these 3 files/movies then the machine will hang. I think there are some files corrupted coz after i remove these 3 files/movies, the problem is ok, now i change back to 1tb no prob. Its ok.

So the question is- how come those 3 files are corrupted. Coz i manage to play those movies before no prob. Also now i can play those movies on pc. Whats happened? My oh my.... Thanks all for help. Godbless
*
this file corruption... i have experienced it but can't explain also. but i could not be sure if it is file corrupted when playing with acryan or the file is originally impaired, playable on pc but not on acryan or with certain firmware versions. also, i have come across files that can't play on another player when they should but can play on pc and the ac ryan.

hi, i have a question here. i'm interested to buy 1 of these media players, be it ac ryan or wdtv (doesnt care much) for my entertainment purpose in my living hall using TV. I have a computer in my computer room full of movies, how can i share these files with any of these player, which player should i get? Sorry very noob about networking, my other choice would be building another cheap HTPC for my living hall but i think if using this small media player is possible it would be better, cheaper, save space and less wires. Usually i will transfer the movies i want to watch to usb and connect it to my BD player to play but that is very time-consuming and leceh.
Any opinions are very much welcome.
Thanks again. smile.gif
*
can only comment on ac ryan...

the current model is pohd3 (rm599, i think, can put built in hdd) and mini3 (rm499). these come with built in wireless networking features.

i only have played with pohd and mini2 wireless. with 1mb unifi boxes, it can only do lower bit rate files nicely like mp3, avi, maybe mkv480p. won't do well for 720p/dts and above.

however, i can't say if it will be the same or not for the pohd3 and mini3 with better wireless equipment, never tried...

using usb, play with bd player - i have this option too. if you play usb with acryan, yr experience will be better - better navigation, better video n audio, incl the highest grades iso files. can even delete, move and copy between the usb drives and/or harddisk for pohd.

if you have a good tv, a good home theater system, big files, best to get an acryan and hardwire it with usb to delievr the best output rather than struggle with wireless.

if you have basic tv, small files, then...anything can...even those cheap rm150 china made media players can be ok!

Thanks for the info, i think i have a basic home theater system, 43" TV connected to AV receiver and speaker setup. The thing is i just want to stream my shared computer folder to my home theater system at living hall. The computer is located up stair. It will be easier for me to go thru the wireless route. Are u sure it will be a problem if streaming HD content using wireless? i have a lot of HD content, if using wireless will be a problem, i'll just stick with copying the movies to the BD player every time. I don't want to buy an extra hard disk just to store the HD files for my living hall system.
Anyone has any experience streaming HD content via wifi/ wireless?
*
i can only say with 10mb unifi equipment, wireless does not work for hd (>720p dts)files with ac ryan. i do not know if better equipment and higher broadband speed will work.

perhaps others who tried can comment...
