I'm not sure about this but did you try to lodge this con-case to HP?
With the Serial Number, Whenever the Laptop is put on-line, you can basicly track where it is, but then again, I'm just assuming, because I work for HP lol.

Can't, I not in the right department to do so.
But it also depends whether the laptop is installed with HP software or not.

For employees one, they have a way to track it, but not sure about consumer.
