Uhm, currently I'm using an electric boiler to boil water. My housemate says that it is more economical to boil it using gas. I doubt so because it won't make much difference.

So.. anybody here can enlighten me?

additional info: the boiler uses about 2000W and 1 gas tank costs about rm21.

Airpots use less electricity -- about 600-700W boiling. Also it can keep the water warm so you don't have to reboil it if you want hot water smile.gif

are you sure?
my mum hate to use the gas.
scared terbakar the whole house and can't boil if got wind blow.
Normally take about 10min ++.
You sure gas is cheap? hmm.gif

Electric is the safest and fastest.
How much can the electric cost?  sweat.gif

Tell your mom to use a real stove to cook and boil. Dont use sissy stoves that takes forever to boil things.

Electric safest and fastest? Tell me, can you set your electric kettle to the boiling temperature you want? Faster and slower? Can you?
No you can't. My stove can. I can put it to maximum flaming power for few minutes of super nova, or just simmer for 5mins to slowly boil.
And can you handle your kettle and outlets with wet hands? No you can't. You'll get electrocuted!!!! And blow a fuse!!!

Tell her to go back to kitchen and learn the basics, and stop watching TV. She has much to learn on cooking yo. icon_rolleyes.gif

Its constantly consuming electric where you don't need em = wasteful

If you need hot water, why not store it in a thermos?
