TH-42PV20K vs 42ZV600E.

since both panels got refection, i would rather go for plasma tv.

toshiba claims to have clearscan 200Hz. so, what about its response time compare to plasma tv?

another point is that plasma tv exhibits smoother and more natural pictures. ie TH-42PV20K = soft; 42ZV600E= hard

the toshiba roadshow at ikano didnt convince me a lot. by taking away the product features, the basis of the LCD panel which is having slower response time compared to plasma tv makes the LCD tv doesnt at par level of plasma tv.

as far as i concern, LCD tv still struggle with its response time weakness. moreover, thru advertisement, they tend to influence the enc users on its 100Hz or 200hz panel instead of faster response time issue.

yea the question is, how you wanna use your tv? If you play games, i suggest the toshiba, if watching blueray and stuffs, the plasma. I would personally go for the toshiba cause the sound quality is very good, plasma tends to make the room hotter and more power consumption, but the pros are it provides the best PQ.

If you can wait for a while longer, Toshiba will release new series of HDTV soon and the ZV series will be replaced, according to one of the LYN members here.

Both plasma and lcd have prons and cons.

Of course, their life span is the same 60000 hours.
Plasma is good in supporting analog and digital signal while LCD only good in supporting digital signal.

Lets talk about plasma first,
Plasma have higher heat and higher reflection compare to lcd.
But the good things about plasma is better quality when u are watching astro because astro is still using analogue system.
However, there are five channel in astro had digital signal. There should will be more channel with digital signal soon in the future.

While, LCD is better in gaming and blue ray player.

Meanwhile, there is a new technology called LED. Y don't you go check it out?

LED is not really a new technology, LED is actually LCD's, it has the same pros and cons as the normal LCD, but PQ is slighty better.

You're misleading here. Astro broadcast all the way usig digital since day 1. If you mean HD and SD, then it's now 8 HD channel available with Astro Byond. The different between the HD and SD channel was the compression method for the transmission.

Well....basically most of the time will be viewing Astro (B.yond). Only once a while would be playing DVDs & Wii. I think I have seen/read somewhere that plasma which uses fluorescent technology that is harmless to our eyes compare with LCD which uses LED? - Pls correct me if I'm wrong wink.gif
Cos my son likes to play near the TV cabinet doh.gif

Currently I'm also using Toshiba 32AV550E model & I'm basically satisfied with the brand. But its just that since years ago when we viewed plasma technology you'll swear to yourself that 1 fine day you will OWN one. notworthy.gif Well the day is here....but nowadays it looks like LCD & LED is the way of the future. Again, correct if I'm wrong hmm.gif
I'm not really a tech geek (no pun intended)... but I find that plasma PQ is more natural while LCD is towards...(more) vibrant colours.
I have really shorlisted this 2 models & I hope all the sifus/owners out there would help compare this 2 model. Is both models specification the latest?
Sorry for being such a noob... rclxub.gif

I wonder this question for quite some time too but it really depends on ur budget....... some people are buying plasma (cheaper) and affordable while some are buying lcd because it's a better image. LED is da best but not everyone can afford......... If you are planning to buy 2 sets of tv, buy one plasma and 1 lcd...... We can start to dream about LED tvs when the price go down.....as for me (at current market), I'll take the LCD anytime...

Purchased the 47ZV600E after considering Panasonic Plasmas and various LCDs. Plasma has its merits. Regretted not purchasing a 2009 model 42" Panasonic G series plasma when it was discounted to below RM4,000 early this year before launch of 2010 models. The Panasonic 2010 42" V series is good but expensive when you consider its price against some of the better LCD models available. For the same price it is possible to consider Full HD 47" LCD options which give larger viewing.

Decided on the Toshiba 47ZV600E because of its picture quality and audio. This model allows you the flexibility of playing around with the picture settings to get best picture to suit your home environment. If you enjoy tinkering with your AV equipment this model is good value. Picture quality is great with Astro Beyond and HDMI DVDs.

True for certain extent, say SD content. HD ready render better SD content than typical Full HD. For good upscaling HDTV, maybe can be as good. Depends on your contents, audience expectation and future proofing.

My parents know nothing about TV, they want a TV for normal show, which HD ready can do pretty good. They are the one that spend hours on TV. So, I get them a HD ready one. However, if you expect to play some bluray, then Full HD is a must.

Someone told me. There is a big jump in PQ from X series to U series. But not much jump in from U to V except for the anti-reflective coating. Not sure how true is that.
