if you really can't wait for the new FW to be available, then u can go change the product code (via NSS) to one that already has an update available.  smile.gif
*
is it will void the warranty?

actually it's one of the reasons why im ditching the fone.
RAM is just way to low even after a fresh format.
even the E5 has 256MB.
*
as for simple user like me, i think it is sufficient.. nod.gif

Actually as for the ram issue, i'm just only gonna be using it mainly for SMS, MMS, GPS and Skype. Would the phone be smooth to run on these simple apps?

And the reason being the consideration of this phone is that newer models, such as the E7 mentioned above, would be too pricey when launched. And if i do wait for those newer models value to drop, even NEWER models will be out. All in all, unless i've got the money, i'll never be able to catch the trend. So all i needed was advice of a yes or no-go for this phone hehe biggrin.gif
*
yeah.. for sure u can run all those.. nod.gif
actually the ram issue will appear when you do heavy multitasking in ur e72.. for example, u using music player, ovi maps and browsing website with full of pictures simultaneously , that will cause ur phone to crash.. laugh.gif

imho, u need the phone, just get it.. biggrin.gif no need to wait for a new one, unless u are tech freak.. and for sure the new released phone price will be pricey.. sweat.gif

stable + performance wise bb > e72
*
QUOTE(ryoko2505 @ Dec 23 2010, 11:32 AM)
that's quite true, plus it pwns the E72 at social networking as well.
*
yup i agree.. nod.gif

but the camera and screen quality is really worse... nowadays 2mp/3.2mp camera and 64k color is not acceptable! doh.gif

and the games on bb is not much.. this is the cons of bb, entertainment..

that's what makes me get e72.. icon_idea.gif

for people who did not rely much on mail, i think e72 is better... not everyone can afford bb.. so not all people u can contact by bbm/ym by all day.. it is a waste.. the normal messages would be better.. thumbup.gif

if u want to use internet/social networking with small screen phone like bb/e72 all days, of course it will hurt ur eyes.. so, the solution is normal pc with bigger screen..

and i'm not being fanboy here, just to voice out my thought.. icon_rolleyes.gif

What I like from BB9700:
1. Screen. Clear and fine, simply superb.
2. Optical pad miles ahead from nokia. Sensitive and easy to use. It should be the industry gold std.
3. Ergonomic, slightly thicker but lighter than E72, easier at the hand and not easy to slip off.
4. Software is rock solid and secure.
5. Looong battery life so far.
6. Browser speed is surprisingly good and has improved. Now is a joy to use. It renders flash page better than E72
7. Camera software is better then e72 but e72 quality is better smile.gif

What I dislike from BB9700 are:
nothing so far smile.gif

What I like from E72
1. GPS map installed from mem card
2. A wealth of S60 applications available
3. Nice keyboard
4. Flashlight
5. Ability to remote lock the phone via sms. BB should make this as a std too.

What I dislike from E72
1. Often hang and need reboot,
2. Camera hard to focus >_>
3. Optical pad sucks compare to BB
4. Slim but heavy. Not so good ergonomic, easy to slip off.

my feedback almost like below smile.gif edit from other internet site
*
well u got ur own point there... biggrin.gif

i thinks nokia made it a little bit heavy, because u will feel its 'solidity' when u hold it with ur hand.. nod.gif

and also e72 is cheaper than bb... wink.gif

What if nokia improve E72 with added feature such as touch screen with qwerty keypad. Then there is no need for navi key...it will be much easier to play with E72....  rolleyes.gif  rclxms.gif
*
touchscreen does not suit e72..

small screen like e72 are not made for touchscreen... biggrin.gif

Ah i see. I was initially curious as to why Nokia had 3 official distributors whereas Samsung had one, which was FMG (which now i heard it's no longer in operation). So i used to think that Nokia could only have one and only one distributor. Then i figured out that probably it was cos Nokia didn't want only one distributor to monopolise the market.

I have another question actually: What's the difference between the Nagivation and Standard set? And why is White Edition pricier?
*
i think navigation got navi set..

white edition is pricier because it is bundle with Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-216..
u can check it here

Oh! Thanks for the link. I checked Nokia too some time ago but missed out that part. It seems that White Edition has got only one item extra: Bluetooth gadget.

However, it mentioned only the White Edition set but didn't mention anything about the Navigation set.  rclxub.gif

This might be out of topic but... are there any other Nokia phones that supports Skype using Wifi?
*
the navigation set got car holder + car charger... icon_idea.gif

for symbian phone (nokia) that support skype,u can check here.. rclxms.gif

*
mine is grey colour...

i chose grey because, it looks more 'solid' than the other colour... nod.gif

QUOTE(farleonhart @ Dec 26 2010, 12:33 AM)
a quick question here..
if i turn the assisted gps on, will ovi maps always connect to network for navigation?
-or-
does ovi maps connect to network so that the satellite will find my position only and thus navigates without connection to network..

this is bcos im using prepaid plan n i dun wanna waste $$$ juz to get to use GPS navigation while i can wait several minutes for the phone to get satellite signal w/o assisted GPS
*
the A-GPS is used to speed up start-up times of GPS-based positioning systems.. so it means it helps to lock the satellite location faster.. it is not used for the whole journey but only for every first time u used gps...

if u don't want to waste ur credit, u also can integrated GPS only.. with integrated GPS, there is no charge on ur credit since it used integrated GPS only but the lock time is longer... nod.gif

Any solution to the email notification problem? Damn, this phone is worse than nokia e71 when it comes to multiple email notification.
*
yeah.. anyone know? tongue.gif

i don't really know cause i only use my e72 as a daily organiser.. doh.gif

Hi, I posted this question at E71 thread, but I think it's not very active thread now.

So please excuse me if I repeat my question here:-

" Hi, if I want to buy a used phone like Nokia E71/72 from online (e.g Lowyat.net) forums , how do I know if the phone is legitimate or not. Can I check some local website or local database if the IMEI is not blacklisted or barred?.

Is there even such a database currently implemented. I heard about this a few years back, but haven't read about such servise available till today?"
*
never heard about this..

this kind of service never implemented in Malaysia biggrin.gif
