Been like wanting to buy this phone for some time, which the time i waited really is enough for Nokia to release another new model cos this model ain't new anymore. So just wondering if you guys would advise that i buy the E72 now or not?

Anyways, say that i buy an E72 and it's firmware is outdated many versions ago. Can i update the firmware to the latest version straight from it's very, very old version? Or do i have to update it from version to version, till the latest version?

Actually as for the ram issue, i'm just only gonna be using it mainly for SMS, MMS, GPS and Skype. Would the phone be smooth to run on these simple apps?

And the reason being the consideration of this phone is that newer models, such as the E7 mentioned above, would be too pricey when launched. And if i do wait for those newer models value to drop, even NEWER models will be out. All in all, unless i've got the money, i'll never be able to catch the trend. So all i needed was advice of a yes or no-go for this phone hehe biggrin.gif

yeah.. for sure u can run all those..  nod.gif
actually the ram issue will appear when you do heavy multitasking in ur e72.. for example, u using music player, ovi maps and browsing website with full of pictures simultaneously , that will cause ur phone to crash..  laugh.gif

imho, u need the phone, just get it..  biggrin.gif  no need to wait for a new one, unless u are tech freak.. and for sure the new released phone price will be pricey..  sweat.gif

As for multitasking, personally, i do no like multitasking, fearing that i might forget to finish a task i was doing before. I have this habit of finishing one thing before i start the next thing...so this is prolly why i'm slow at doing things (like clearing my room takes me more than 1 month LOL). So i think the ram issue won't be a prob, hehe.

Anyways, anyone knows a decent price i should be paying for this phone? I want to buy an original set. Btw, original refers to avaxx or zitron right?

Yup, original refers to Zitron or Avaxx. Arista is also ori @ authorised dealer but I believe they don't distribute Nokia E72.

Price should be about RM1010 to RM1060 for ori set. White colour is about RM70 - RM100 more expensive.

Ah i see. I was initially curious as to why Nokia had 3 official distributors whereas Samsung had one, which was FMG (which now i heard it's no longer in operation). So i used to think that Nokia could only have one and only one distributor. Then i figured out that probably it was cos Nokia didn't want only one distributor to monopolise the market.

I have another question actually: What's the difference between the Nagivation and Standard set? And why is White Edition pricier?

i think navigation got navi set..

white edition is pricier because it is bundle with Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-216..
u can check it here
http://www.nokia.com.my/find-product/all-p...-specifications

Oh! Thanks for the link. I checked Nokia too some time ago but missed out that part. It seems that White Edition has got only one item extra: Bluetooth gadget.

However, it mentioned only the White Edition set but didn't mention anything about the Navigation set. rclxub.gif

This might be out of topic but... are there any other Nokia phones that supports Skype using Wifi?

Just a side-question: Does the Nokia E72 look... umm.. well on ladies? Cos IMHO, it looks very business-sy (well, obviously) and suits more for men :/

my wife uses the topaz brown variant  smile.gif

My gf said the topaz brown looks classy. Heh.

Anyways, if i'm getting this phone, i was thinking of a full cover protection (for example, i'll have to open/flip the front cover to use the phone). Are there such casings, and if yes, how much would it cost?

Oh! You found it! Yep, that's the one i'm talking about. I heard my friend mentioned something like that, but i wasn't too sure if E72 has these type of casings. And my preference would be the one in the top picture. The second pic... it's gonna be difficult when it comes to typing lol.

Also, which such casings, would there be a... opening for the camera part? If not, it's like i've got to always take the casing out whenever i need to snap a picture lol shocking.gif

usually there would be an opening for the camera lens, or you can check with the seller before buying.  smile.gif

Oh, i see. Do you have a rough idea of how much this might cost? And also i see that those rubber casings are very popular nowadays. Don't think i'll fancy that though...but just out of curiosity, do you know how much that costs, too?

Yo guys! I finally got the E72, haha. Mine is Metal Grey colour, though i still think Bronze looks nicer, but the seller said that Bronze suits female more sad.gif I wish i was female LOL.

Anyways, i've got some questions here:

1. There's this..message icon which keeps blinking non-stop just at the bottom of my screen and i just couldn't figure it out what is it. Also, just in case you needed this info: I have some smses still stored in my SIM card. Update 1: I realised that there's a weird sms stuck inside my SIM card.

2. My firmware version as reported in Ovi Suite and Nokia Software Updater reports that it's v51. And that certainly ain't the latest firmware. Trying out both Ovi Suite and NSU, they both report that my firmware is up to date (WTH?!), and hence i cannot update my device.

Any suggestions sifus out there?

Update 2: I found the solution to enable/disable vibration under Silent profile. Firstly choose the Silent profile, then go into Control Panel and Personalisation, then go to Tones, and search for Vibration.

In Silent mode, when phone call comes, the phone will vibrate. The question is, HOW to silent the vibration as well?

In Sony Ericsson, if in silent mode, and phone call comes, the phone vibrate, then press the silent key again, the vibration turns off. How to do this in E72? I tried flipping the phone over also can't silent the vibration...............

Wah, we have our problems upside down. I want my phone to vibrate on silent, whereas you want your phone to not vibrate when silent. LOL.

Thanks for your suggestion...but what I meant was, I want it to be vibrate during silent mode, then I also want to turn off the vibration if needed.
*
Wah, i dun think this is possible leh. It's either vibrate + silent, or non-vibrate + silent.

Once my phone was able to go on for full 6 days without charging, all 6 days under active stanby mode. Of course, that is with only about 2 hours max of talking on the phone and no GPS/wifi connection. Other than that, it lasts 3 days with heavy wifi, gps and talking. Pretty decent 1500mAh battery life we're talking here.

Anyways, i've got a few questions:
1. When using Garmin, after a few secs, my phone's screensaver mode/black screen comes into place, making it impossible for me to navigate. Any workaround this prob?
2. How to create quick-dials? I mean like, if you hold a key, it will automatically dial a number.
3. What's the maximum number of SMSes (inbox, outbox, and everything else) can the phone save?
4. Will data charges be incurred if i upgrade/check new firmware through FOTA?
5. Skype gives me problems sad.gif Any other free voip suggestions?

1. you can disable the screensaver.
2. speed dial u mean?u have to enable it , ctrl panel > phone > speed dial , and assign the numbers
3. i've saved up to 2500 messages (inbox n outbox) but it's gonna be troublesome tho to look for messages.
4. yes (use wifi when possible to save cost)
5. try nimbuzz (multi-client)
*
1. Uh, do you mean that i'll have to disable the screensaver from the phone settings before i use Garmin, and enable it back after i'm done with Garmin? That would be quite troublesome eh?
