Hi, would appreciate if any forumers here can recommend a good battery type (brand) for the Proton Saga, having experienced by themselves. My newly delivered Saga (less than 1 month old) could not start after 1 week's of non-usage. Battery voltage dropped to 6.5 volts. Went to SC but was denied a new replacement battery, and instead, they just manually charge it for 15 hours. vmad.gif

something wrong with ur car wiring i guess... somewhere is short circuiting.. if u lazy to find out the cause, disconnect the battery if u leave the car for few days untouched...

its not the battery problem... normal healthy battery should even last for weeks even the engine is not started...
Hi catacombs, thanks for your advice. However, it may still be the battery because the car was manufactured in August 2010 and sold to me in December 2010. So, during those 4-month storage period, it had only clocked 60km before I took delivery and I had only drove a further 85km thereafter. I suspect their technician did not do a proper PDI (pre-delivery inspection) and so did not manually charge up the battery sufficiently prior to the delivery of the car to me. Hence, if the battery had been "sitting idle" for 4 months or more and with not much usage after I took its delivery, its internal condition may deteriorate, not to mention that it is those cheaper lead-acid type (although is maintenance free), but not the "gel" type, which can hold the charge better and for much longer.

Anyway, now that it had been charged for 15 hours, I'll see if it will die again after a week or 2 of non-usage (if there is a chance that I may not use it). I had measured the resistance at the battery terminals (disconnected of course) and it seems to be okay with quite high resistance, although fluctuating, probably because of the immobilizer and alarm units. Should it fail again after a week of non-usage, I'll go to a battery shop to have an analysis and their opinion. I've already given up on those people at the Proton service centre. They can do nothing but only good at trying to avoid responsibilities and liabilities. Regrettably, for as long as this (bad) work attitude remains, Proton's image will never be able to be on par with its competitors, no matter how good their cars can be. Proton is able to have an edge because of price advantage. Otherwise, the name Proton would have been history. Sadly, it's not that they don't try to make good engines, but if those in their service centre are still practicing the "can't be bothered (tidak apa)" mentality, I doubt their after sales service can ever be able to satisfy their customers. Sigh....... mad.gif
