Yes it's a good idea... Very convenient... Just plug n play... Do it all the time after dl-ing movies... HAHA...

but i read from the internet the quality of the laptop produce using hdmi cable is quite poor what laptop are u all using?

i'm using a compaq cq45-127tx, hdmi to my receiver, everything is good except it can't bitstream dts/dd.. as far as pq wise.. it's very good.. i use mpc-hc so as performance goes.. it's acceptable..

Dell Studio 1450 with ATI Mobility 4530 HD. Just thought that mentioning the GC is relevant as it's responsible for the HDMI.

so all laptops can't stream dts and dolby digital using hdmi?

Laptop HDMI is for video only as far as I know. Never seen or heard laptop with bitstream capability on the HDMI
