hi guys, i need so advise on the hdd setup
im using an old sata Samsung 80GB hdd as my primary OS, and the games folder is installed in 500GB WD Caviar Green.

ran some benchmark, and found out that the Samsung 80GB hdd half the performance of Caviar Green. yea, i know green is already slow, and this Samsung is half of that speed. 
since games are installed in the Caviar, does replacing the old Samsung to a faster HDD (im thinkin WD Black) improves gaming performance?

actually all those listed by u and those on page 1 not found at ALL IT, other shops got more choices which are better than Samsung S2 or WD Elements SE?~ i accidently bought WD Elements SE due to mistake and rush, need to go return and change to Samsung~ but still need another HDD low temp for long duration usage as well~

this year happen 4x (1.5tb, 1TB) WD green all got problem.  suddenly write/read drop below 2mb or hang  =.=

Damn currently I hv 02 x.2tb wd green... *finger crossed*

WD Green is great for those WD fan whom need to save a little power and don't want to heat up their baby (but they still can't even beat the heat produced by Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB which is running at 7,200rpm).
As for CCTV and servers alike storage, don't go for Green, go for the CCTV certified or RAID edition, they're built for much durable, rough environment and longer lasting, but they'll break anyway but it should provide you much longer service period than the Green, that's why you pay more for it.

and this is a myth

Every hard disk has its own issue, I dealt with Seagate (mine), Western Digital (both mine and office) and Samsung (mine and friend's experience), Hitachi (office).
Seagate 500GB Barracuda (first few release) has firmware issue (firmware from Thailand batch); severe firmware issue that caused the corruption of hard disk's BIOS and hard disk is not detectable, until I found problem on the web, my hard disk already being sent for RMA and they return me a new one, lost 300GB of data.
Western Digital, my 1TB Green right now has some "RAW Read Data" and "Current Pending Sector Count", both this attributes however still under acceptable condition but who knows it might affect your data? Though the data is not so important but this could happen to anyone, so watch your SMART!!
Samsung, yeah, their support over other hardware is still poor although it's on the market for quite sometimes, this make them revise their marketing strategy. HD103SJ has some issue with some Gigabyte mainboard that my friend's had; only detected 32MB after format... (=.+") Samsung HD204UI has firmware issue with AHCI NCQ features that might cause data corruption under certain case, flash the firmware helps but since I use IDE legacy on my SATA so currently doesn't face this issue yet.
Hitachi, reviewed to have the best durability but still dies on some my office HP PC, although data lost is minimal.
So there's no reliable brand to start with, just depends on your luck and always aware and backup from time to time if your data is critical.

This won me over already! its true more n more crap i have on my disc, i cant be bothered arranging it in a tier-ed storage fashion.

One thing id like to add, WD Greens are great for storing movies, mp3s n craps - who needs performance when it streams just perfect and its cheap for mass storage devise

I have 1TB x2 Greens for movies etc, 1x320GB for torrent download and 1x500GB for OS n crap. this week, planning to get 2 units of seagate momentus xt and raid 0 them

my acer notebook use Nanya HDD.
do you ever heard this brand? first time i know it..

i never use seagate
but my current dekstop HDD is WD Green - very silent but slow too

FUUUUUU......just now went to lowyat plaza to find samsung spinpoint F3, all the shop out-of-stock, only startec and c-zone got, sri comp never bother to ask

all dont want restock and wait until price increase

bought from czone 1 unit 1 month later have to RMA 

Woot.. I just called WD RMA department.
They said they are moving from singapore to malaysia next week.
Ask me to wait for next week and proceed the RMA by walk in to their service center.
