Any good brand of external hard disk with anti-shock proof? Is the anti-shock proof 'real' or just a marketing gimmick?
Heard that have this features is transcend, any other choices?

does external 2.5" hard disk utilise  the e-sata port that come with my laptop? plan to get WD passport usb3

Must check whether your laptop or desktop are with 3.0 motherboard or not(3.0 usually for new computers). 2.0 usb is for old computer, but not very sure what year of production. Anyone knows?

Am planning to get a new external harddisk 1TB.  Can anyone tell me which is more recommended among the 3 brands here?

1. WD Passport USB3.0
2. Buffalo Mini station
3. Seagate Expansion

In terms of price, I believe they are similar but I'm most concern about reliability.  My Imation Apollo died on me, and Imation Venus is a little problematic now.

Go for WD Passport USB3.0, value for money and reliability.

All external hdd brands have 500GB. If you are looking for 500GB, go for those 2.5in (without external power supply)
I am not sure which models have usb 3.0. Go browse at Lowyat  smile.gif
*
2.5" size(without external power supply) - good for people on the go and always move from place to place, suitable for working data, mp3.

3.5" size(with external power supply) - good for data storage at home or office and does not have to move the external hard disk anywhere in a short period of time / longer time span, suitable for movie storage.

Just my 2 cents.

Walao.... WD so unfortunate this time? Being struck by "waves" of obstacles...... (puns intended)

But seriously, the sellers are trying to rake in high and ride the flood wave to cut us consumer's throat....
I still remember before this flood, ALLIT in digitalmall had to held a promotion to sell off their inventory of HDDs at the entrance.... but now.... they dont scare you dont buy, they scare you cant afford to buy..... doh.gif  doh.gif
Yea... so far only saw 1.5TB for 2.5" on pricelists now... but the price is like >RM500-600.... pretty pain.... so i still choose 1TB.... wait till 2TB comes....

Get Buffalo brand, haven heard anyone complains about this brand here, WDC and Seagate has more complains here..
If you can't get that brand, Transcend is also not too shabby.
For me, either brand is fine, as long it's value and fit my taste  whistling.gif

At Digital Mall, the most returned by customer is Buffalo brand? Still confused which one is the best?
