Can I direct take the Seagate Hdd to the UPS SCS (M) Sdn Bhd at Subang Jaya there for RMA ?
*
I am not too sure now, but should create RMA from Seagate website. If it state the return to UPS SCS, then you can bring it there with the RMA reference.

I'll say this first as I'm in no offence of WD Black but the speed compared to Samsung is slower and the price way higher (not sure what so good about the premium).
I'm using one so I know about this, the heat is an issue, way too high in my prespective, if you really want cool harddisk, take Samsung, for the 1TB F3 version, it's faster, cheaper and way cooler than WD Black.
But, if you're royal fan of WD, then by all means, get a better fan to cool it down fast.
*
One main thing is that WD has reputable RMA services even you need to pay for if drive > 6 months (around RM25),
Samsung, I haven't try to RMA yet, because, no drive failed yet, touch wood

Black drive also has 5 years warranty, it does worth to pay the extra to me, my humble opinion

No reformat needed. Hit the first post, look for Fariz quote on download link. Suggest you put 150gb for C drive.

the F4 is a single platter single head drive.
*
yeah, F4 is single platter drool.gif

QUOTE(8tvt @ Sep 28 2010, 11:07 AM)
ar? 2TB 1platter? cannot be right..

should 3 platter as apposed of F3 4 platter, which i think generate more heat..
or any other factors contribute?
*
I think Fariz was referring to F4, F4EG on the other hand is 3 platter for 2TB, isn't that great?

Guys, I'm gonna RMA my Seagate Barracuda 320GB. I've done all those filling form thingy at Seagate website.

When I post the package to them, which pos I should use? Poslaju or PostExpress?

How should I wrap the HDD in order not to get damages when posting?

How about the payment? When they post back to me, who's the one who pay?

Sorry for being a noob, really need help here.
*
Where Seagate ask you to send to? You can opt for Nationwide Express or something similar, pack it with anti static bag. Put it as fragile. Seagate will ship you back a different drive at their cost.

What kind of enclosure? Better check the enclosure whether support it or not. Try WD? Since it is quite common available now. Around 170myr?

actually i looking for an enclosure with esata+usb. currently i had one docking station with esata port. so will the cache size really matter? btw, can someone recommend an enclosure with esata?
*
HornetTek Viper? But it is really not worth to have eSATA enclosure right now, with USB 3.0 is ready for prime time soon

Are you looking at external hard drive? Get the larger cache if possible, if you using for heavy duty

Get the Black, the price is dropping like hell due to Samsung competitive pricing and performance, the 1TB Black should be around RM200 right now @ Lowyat.

If you feels brand has no issue for you, go for Samsung F3/F4 1TB 7,200rpm, performance is way better than Western Digital 1TB Black.
*
Oh my, where is RM200 1TB Black? I did not notice this? Mind to tell the shop name here please. Many thanks in advance.

RAID 1 with different brand of storage, if you plan buying together. No hard disk can escape being fail

^Ah yes Performance over reliability. I already have a RAMDISK as well. Read Write 750+-mB/s Just that I want to test out this array whether it is fast or not.

This setup is prebuilt by this workstation

hi, offtopic, appreciate if you can share your RAMDISK setup method, many thanks.
