Yup primary issue is about OS issue.

BIOS.

That's why external come out first.
As in normal circumstance, it is always internal first.

32 bit OS also needs to throw out of window aka XP only recognise 990MB out of 3TB.
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/HDD-LBA-G...UEFI,10436.html

The hardware is hitting some limitation, and need to overhaul the current standard to move forward.

But I expect, it will be slow process, as same as 64 bit migration, (even 64 bit has been available for years), we are still stuck with 32 bit across even now.

As there is no urgency to use a 3TB HDD especially for OS disk, you don't require such a capacity for OS.

Correct me if I am wrong. As still new to the issue.
*
so is the OS unable to address all the LBA inside a 3 TB hdd?
even with 64bit OS also can't? unsure.gif

It's not the OS problem. It's a hardware problem on the motherboard.
*
so the addressing of the LBA on a hdd is done by the motherboard? unsure.gif
