Excuse me guys.

I have been forced to change my notebook hdd months ago due to the hdd failed to boot up. Since I'm reinstalling OS in another laptop , i have the time to try the Failed HDD as a external drive via USB.

It able to detect the Recover partition , but not the main C: drive. After awhile , it shows the C: drive , but i'm unable to click into the folder. It'll just hang there.

Could it be due to bad sector ? Is there any ways to repair it ?

Hope you guys could lend a helping hand.
Thank you!

May be worthwhile to wait for the 2TB samsung then. tongue.gif

2TB section still too expensive for the time being.

Still that expensive?

2week ago brought 5pcs 2tb samsung for rm380/pcs. It already cheaper than WD 2tb. thumbup.gif

Have you tried diagnosing your hard drive for bad sectors and SMART errors with test tools such as HDDscan and CrystalDiskInfo? Bad sectors can be replaced with reserve pool sectors via low-level format tools, check for tools from your hard drive's manufacturer.

Hello all need some pointers b4 buying a new external drive for my media files connected to a media player.

1)Is Samsung reliable brand for hard drive?

2) If you have to pick between these two which one would you go for
a) Samsung G3 3.5 External Hard Drive 1.5TB @ RM365.00
or
b) Samsung Internal Drive 1.5TB @ RM265.00 + Enclosure

or would you suggest any other solutions which amounting around RM400 or less smile.gif tight budget.

Thanks in advance.

3)
*
1) I won't comment on this one.
2) I always like to build my own drive, even if it'll end a little more expensive, so (b).

Samsung 1GB SATA 2 izzit detected as SATA 3 Gbps with HWinfo?

All my Seagate SATA2 500GB 16MB cache detected as SATA 1.5Gbps only even though in website clearly stating it is SATA2 3 Ggps.

So, next harddisk purchase definitely not Seagate.

Well... because PC Fair, technically isn't the place the suppliers are using to sell stuff cheap (okay you can score some nice deals here and there, but not everywhere of course).
Its a place they use to clear out their inventory yet selling at the price roughly the same as before the week PC fair starts, so they don't lose too much profit yet still get to clear out their intventory.

U can check the cpu-z validation page got my mobo info.

I've been using GA-X48-DQ6, GA-Q35M-S2 and now using MSI P43-C51.

All three board detects my Seagate HDD 500GB SATA2 running only 1.5Gps or SATA1. I know its not the board problem since I got 1 WD 500GB Green which detected running in SATA2 3Gps mode. Maybe I will post a screenshot of HWInfo later. So far no problem using the HDD, with HWInfo and Sisoft SANDRA, I can see the true mode for my HDDs. I've tried to use AHCI mode but still detects as Sata 1.5GB.

BTW, I got 4 HDDs: (2 x 500GB Seagate, 1 x 320GB Seagate & 1 WD Green 500GB). Maybe wanna sell all Seagate then change to 2TB HDD. Casing too heavy with HDDs.

Your Seagate 500gb got jumper or not? If yes, it might be limited to by that jumper.

I think you're right.

I just double checked, I have one of my Seagate drives the same as yours.
Mine is also running at 1.5Gbps...

IIRC.. I heard something about the 7200.10 drives, despite being stated as SATA 2, it isn't.

So... yea.

Sata I (1.5Gb/s) or Sata II (3.0Gbb/s) make no difference one actually, HDD capability itself never able to fill up the 1.5Gb/s aka the speed is capped by the HDD output itself, not the Sata interface.

So Sata I HDD may faster than Sata II one.

For the curious, SATA 1.5 Gbps is 150 MByte/s. Very few hard disks can hit beyond that and most still averages below 100 MByte/s.
