My XPS 1640 has got buzzing sound from the speakers when playing songs, metallic buzz, like got some lose metal, not the DPC issue. Today the technician just changed the front speakers for me, but problem still persists. Anyone else facing this issue? They're going to change the subwoofers btw...

I got the same prob a few years ago .. change mobo, speaker but still not resolve ... when my father know, he ask for 1:1 exchange with the call centre supervisor/manager .. and no more prob after that ..  brows.gif
*
wow, may I know which model was that? Anyway this XPS I'm using is already an 1:1 exchange from a previous M1530 due to buzzing microphone which cannot be resolved after changing various components, really a tech support nightmare. I wonder if they'll do another 1:1 exchange for me...

I'm using that driver, after a while crackling sound will come, haha, just like the previous one. The crackling disappeared because you just restarted computer, continue for a few hours and see? Anyway, for me, the offending software was BitComet, just closing it and reopen will solve the problem for at least a few hours. So, try to identify the softwares that uses a lot of network traffic, and if the sounds do come back, restart the software.

Yeah, it's heavier and bulkier, at first I found it inconvenient, but after a while you'll get used to carrying it around.

And I too realised that they are using the ones with shock protection, not the cheap ones smile.gif

Guys,

I received a sms saying that my XPs will arrive tomorrow? Does it mean that it will really arrive tomorrow? Sorry ya, first time ordering from Dell.
*
I've got 3 Dells delivered to me and this is the first time I heard that they are actually using SMS to inform.

Question.

Has anyone successfully configure their xps unit to output display to 2 or more screens? If yes, please share how.
*
You mean the laptop screen + another screen? Connect the VGA cable to another screen, then open the ATi Catalyst, from there you can select how you want the 2 screens to show.

Yup, using the display ratio like 4:3 or 16:9, you can work the exact height and width out using the good old Pythagoras theorem biggrin.gif

I still don't get what you mean... why removing the battery will cause dust to accumulate in the speaker grill?

Like shit, treated badly? Lol. For the first 1/2 years I used my Latitude on the sofa.

And 5 years later I dropped it... and it's never been the same since.

And damn, refund received - time to get new laptop! Quick Dell update the XPS or open up a new model.
*
Wow, after 5 years still can get refund? using warranty claim?
