sad thing is, it didn't solve the issue, to make it worse, the esata/usb combo port is not working as well.
Haihh need to make report to dell again, gonna waste my precious time again.

QUOTE(LightningFist @ Apr 29 2011, 07:46 AM) My Bios is A09 now. I think i last tried to update it to A12 or something (released early April 2011) and then was when it failed epicly (flashed lights i/o rebooting afterwards). Are you having trouble updating the BIOS?Since the new Bios my keys and touchpad have been working amazingly - for me at least (they're meant to work but it feels like 20,000% because they work all the time now). Added on April 29, 2011, 2:46 pmOops I mean since the new mobo. Hmm kinda strange my BIOS update always runs smoothly. Did you exit all other applications before updating? |

QUOTE(kamudrikah @ Apr 29 2011, 12:14 PM) yeah. mine too. it runs smoothly. but i wonder what improvement hv been made bcoz no noticeable different to me. IMHO, BIOS updates usually improve the stability of the system, if you never experience any problem, thenit is most likely that you will not notice anything. |

QUOTE(Fantasia @ May 3 2011, 12:21 PM) if u used to use driver sweeper after u uninstalled CCC, u will experience lots of pain when u r trying to update to W7 sp1. i straight away reformat the whole laptop to update to sp1 after trying to solve the problem for more than 1 month. and now i dont use driver sweeper anymore, i change to ccleaner. hopefully i wont experience the same thing again when i want to update to sp2 Weird why you have problem when updating W7 sp1, I always use driver sweeper to clean the CCC drivers, and yet the SP1 update goes smoothly. |

QUOTE(thesoothsayer @ May 7 2011, 10:35 PM) It's really cheap now but seems that many people have tonnes of hardware issues with it. Actually the hardwares are quite outdated already.Still considering whether to get this or not. If you are not looking for FHD screen under RM3k, then I think you can get better hardwares by getting other laptop. I am not trying to keep you away from getting this, I'm just giving my opinion. |

QUOTE(thesoothsayer @ May 8 2011, 01:02 AM) Thanks. The main reason I'm looking at this is the FHD screen. Oh if FHD screen is your main priority, then I this is the only option for under RM3k, well there is XPS 15 if you willing to stretch yourCan't seem to find many other models with such high resolution monitors out there. Almost all are limited to 1366x768. budget more. But from my experience using this, I haven't experience any major issues(overheating, throttling. etc), but I'm just using the old specs, which is C2D version, paired with HD4670, usually the heating and throttling ssues are likely to happen on i7 systems of SXPS 16. Maybe other owner could share their respective experience on their SXPS 16 equipped with core i series processor, so that you could have a better picture of how good or bad this laptop is. |

QUOTE(thesoothsayer @ May 8 2011, 02:00 AM) I was reading through the reviews on Dell.com and it seems that many people are getting issues with display, motherboard, keyboard, speakers, etc. Hmm not really sure about that, yeah I do admit some people experience many problems.Something like 10% of all the reviews there highlight stuff like this. Just wondering if the build quality is really low? People who got motherboard replacement most probably encounter throttling problem before, this is usually happened for those who have RGBLED screen and previous i7 processor. The build quality is quite good actually, but I would recommend for you to get XPS 15 with FHD if you have the budget, it is newer specs and less problematic if I am not mistaken. But the RGBLED is the selling point of the SXPS 16. |

QUOTE(LightningFist @ Nov 12 2011, 11:56 AM) Processor fan is insane. But oh well, the laptop looks nice with a good screen and very few laptops at this price have a backlit keyboard. Exactly where I head after my Dell Studio XPS 16! I guess the next laptop I have to get is an Alienware. Unless Dell improves their XPS line. Once you get used to Dell's customer service you would not want to suffer with something like Lenovo. And unless you have experience with Asus/HP customer service (since both brands produce laptops whose aesthetics compare to the Studio XPS/XPS)... Dell is surely convenient, if expensive. Miss my SXPS16, it is a very good laptop though, done everything that I want without fail, not a single problem that I can't solve either. Miss this forum, have been in AW forum most of the time now, hope you guys satisfied with your SXPS 16, like I did. |
