Wow .. this is very interesting, a tournament which requires you to have at least 25 friends on facebook before can enter.

Hi XenoFreak,

We want to ensure we attract serious players only as one of the common complaints in Tournaments are pre-mature drop outs.

As we're offering it free for players who participate in the tournament for the first time, it's hard for us to filter and identify who will drop out as they do not come up with any actual cash to participate.

Hopefully by identifying genuine facebook IDs,we can prevent dropouts in future tournaments in the event they do so in the earlier ones.

It's not fool-proof, but it's worth a try.

45 players have signed up.

Also a common FAQ is where will the tournament be held.

As we're conduting this tournament via the battle.net (since there is no LAN), the player can play from home or wherever he likes as long as can get good internet connection.

Will this tournament be best of 3 or single elimination ?

The VISTA Lasik tournament is broken down into the following stages, which is playable from your HOME internet:

1. Week 1 : Qualifying Rounds : Groups of 8 : League
2. Week 2 : Group Stages : Groups of 4 : League
3. Week 3 : Top 64 : 1v1 : Best of 3
4. Week 3 : Top 32 : 1v1 : Best of 5
5. Week 4 : Top 16 : 1v1 : Best of 5
6. Subsequent Weeks :
- Quarter Finals (Best of 7)
- Semi Finals (Best of 7)
- Finals (Best of 7)


For both the Qualifying Rounds and Group Stages, it is similar to the World Cup (football).

Selected Videos of Good games will be posted on Youtube with/without commentary.

WEEK 1 : QUALIFYING ROUNDS : GROUPS OF 8 : LEAGUE

There are 32 Groups with 8 players in each group.

Within each group, each player will play 1 game with each 7 players within the group.

A win will get 3 points. A loss will get 1 pt. Absentees will get 0.

Top 4 players with the most league points after 7 games in each group will progress to Group Stages consisting of 4 players in each group.
Top 1 player will seed a group in the Group Stages.

Players no.2 3 & 4 will be distributed randomly to other groups to minimise repeating encounters with the same players from the qualifying stages.

I've registered myself too! With ZERO experience of StarCraft 2. lol.

Just wanna thank ricky for all the effort of hosting the tournament for the sc2 community here =)

I hope to see with our efforts to bring together Malaysian SC2 players together to enjoy the game and perhaps evolve to be like Koreans where SC2 is recognised as a e-sport and not some time-wasting activity.
