grab or not? tongue.gif
currently owned shroom EB and ath ws50. but the price is really  drool.gif

this deal is today only btw

honestly, no. if you want to move up..go for gold.. save your money smile.gif
i spend a lot more money "upgrading" my way to the top. if I had just saved my cash in the beginning and went for gold I would have saved more money and can spend it on source and amp.

i think in ear will tercabut for jogging, that koss is good ?

my shure e2c with silicone tips have a very good seal. i use it at the gym, no issues even when i sweat like a hog. i don't think foams will do well though.
and the ultimate ears triple fi probably won't do very well due to the not-very-optimal-strain-relief design.

err, looks pretty nice  thumbup.gif But gold colour is a turn off.

other recommendation? I like something stylish and cool.
*
so you want something that sound nice to your ears, or sound nice to your eyes? if the latter, how about beats by dr.dre, i don't know if it sounds nice to the ears, but definitely nice to the eyes.

Rm500 budget, I guess the Alessandro MS1 is the best right? hmm.gif
*
depends..best in which area? my extended usage of MS1 coming from HD580/600 hybrid is that the MS1 is more enjoyable with music.. to hell with the details, it gets your feet tapping and just enjoy the music..watching movies..such as Behind Enemy Lines, starting with the fighter jets in the alps.. its definitely the HD580/600. classical? the senns again.. something like hotel california? MS1 places you right at the action.

yes, iems can b real dangerous along d roads as u r so isolated fr d outside noise & may not b aware of cars moving along ...
*
rclxms.gif yes that is the reason. IEMs with good seal you would be oblivious to your surrounding and thats very dangerous when you are out jogging. even when you are jogging in the park and there's bicycles coming from behind who ring their bell to tell you they are approaching and you didn't hear them + you do a turn.. = crash

IEMs are great for listening in office when you need to focus, at home when you want to relax, commuting in public transport when you want to isolate yourself from the noisy hectic world, in the plane to block out the engine drone..but definitely not when you are on the streets.

QUOTE(DaRkAnDTwisTeD @ Dec 19 2010, 04:23 AM)
Erm guys can recommend me some headphone for purely music listening? My budget will be around 300-400 bucks with apm(preferable over ear headphone=D)

P.S just now i was posting in wrong section, sorry fella mods won't do that again=D
*
depending on where you intend to use it, i would recommend IEMs. if you find one that fits you, its more comfortable than full cans, and isolating out the ambient noise, you'll isolate yourself to only your music and you.. you're in a world of your own. i like it when i lie down on my bed and look out the window with the rain.. if i do that with my cans, i'll hear the rain "tak tak tak tak".. whereas with IEMs its just my norah jones and beautiful rain..

more info needed to make a proper recommendation.

- what you currently have -> iphone
- what type of usage -> music
- source -> mp3
- type of music listen to -> general
- personal requirements like type -> mini/fold-able headsets, would be good if it had iphone/mic functionality

budget -> RM250

thanks!

Ultimate Ears SuperFi.5 would fit all your requirements, except budget gotta be stretched a bit.

Weird, my findings say that the HD280 is the more expensive of the two. Where did you get the price for the two headphones from?
*
QUOTE(MrJinggles @ Jan 23 2011, 05:53 PM)
Hmm... you can try Sennheiser's HD280 or Beyer's DT770 (apparently has big mid-bass)/ 660. A little more bass would be the ATH-M50 or so I read, or the ATH-A700. Anyway, it would be better if you could try out the cans for yourself. I just take reviews for what it is - someone else's opinion/impression of the product.

Some reviews/impressions of the headphones mentioned:
-ATH-M50's review/impression from Head-fi here.
-ATH-A700 review/impression from Head-fi here
-Senn's HD280 review/impression from cnet here and from Head-fi here
-Beyer's DT660 review/impression from Head-fi here
-Beyer's DT770 review/impression from Head-fi here

Here's an interesting read for choosing headphones :
Headphone Buying Guide for Newbies

The Sennheiser HD280 was the first "high-end" headphones I owned (I owned HP890 before that), followed shortly by the HD580s. are you absolutely sure you want the HD280? You are aware that the HD280 was designed as studio/dj headphones.. I'll describe it as cold, revealing, unforgiving, neutral. It will reveal ALL weaknesses of your equipment and your source. To my ears, even iPod with apple lossless sounded like crap unamped to the HD280. Notebook headphone out playing CD, utter rubbish (the notebook that is). only bearable time was when it was playing headphone out of my Sony MD player, that also it lacked some dynamics as it wasn't amped.

Its not a bad headphone, in fact is a great headphone, thats if you have the equipment and source to feed it properly.

my review on head-fi.org from 6 years ago. was a noobie, that was back then.

i'm trying to convince myself not to buy bose. but..i don't see anything out there better than the Quietcomfort 15 for in-flight noise canceling. sadly, in this arena, Bose is the benchmark.. or are they?

budget: USD$300, approx RM1k or less
usage: in flight entertainment/noise canceling for 17 hour flights
source: in flight entertainment system (movies), mobile phone, no source (just NC to sleep)
amp: none
style: comfortable..i want to sleep with it. QC3 is not comfortable..

any full cans? these are on-ears, similar to QC3..it will hurt if i'm keeping them on for >5 hours. i've got dumbo ears.

QUOTE(MrJinggles @ Feb 7 2011, 01:30 AM)
You're right, I misread the post. Oh well, treat the list as an alternative then. They do isolate sound/noise fairly well, but do not have that noise cancellation feature as stated by E1-AKG.
*
hi, thanks for your recommendation, i currently own Shure E2C and SuperFi 5vi. they do work BUT
1. it cuts the noise level of the engine drone, but its there... and in excess of 10 hours its really there
2. gets uncomfortable after 6 hours or so

i've been using IEMs for my past trips.. time to up the game.

I understand that you can't completely isolate outside noise but are you saying that after 10 or so hours the noise becomes more audible?  hmm.gif
*
as i grow more tired and try to sleep, yes, mentally its more audible. the volume of the noise didn't change, just that the perceived loudness is more cause i'm trying to fall asleep.
